Chocolate fudge and peanut butter chip cookies for the holidays are a total must-have. These cookies are moist and chewy. Who can say no to chocolate and peanut butter, after all?

Plus, this recipe is super simple and you’re going to roll your eyes at how easy it is to crank out a batch of these in your kitchen.

How I Discovered These Delicious Cookies

I first discovered these chocolate and peanut butter chip cookies from a coworker of mine who brought them to work. They were the most delicious cookie I ever tasted! I’m not even a huge chocolate fan.

But these cookies are indulgent. The chocolate and peanut butter pairs beautifully together and while you can easily make these all year long, there’s something special about enjoying them around the holidays.

The Sneaky Secret Ingredient

You can actually make this recipe a few different ways and I’ve made it two ways but my favorite is my sneaky secret way to bake cookies that’s both time-saving and cheap.

The secret to what makes these cookies so amazing and is that they’re made from cake mix!

You may have heard of cake mix cookies. They are a super easy way to create cookies from store-bought box cake mix. They are truly versatile and you can make cake mix cookies literally a million different ways. They are perfect for new bakers in the kitchen, busy moms, or anybody who wants to whip up a delicious cookie recipe quickly without pulling their hair out.

Now, making these cookies from scratch uses nearly a dozen ingredients from flour to sugar, Dutch cocoa, and other ingredients. And to be honest, they taste exactly the same as when I use cake mix. And because I tend to be a lazy baker, they come out a lot better the cake mix way!

I love using chocolate fudge cake mix for this recipe but you could easily swap it out for devils food, German chocolate, or other chocolate varieties of cake mix. But, you have got to use chocolate cake mix!

The peanut butter chips for this recipe can be found in many grocery stores. But, it has got to be the orange Reese’s bag of peanut butter chips that you use.

Bakers, these peanut butter chips really go fast around the holidays so if you want to try this recipe out, make sure that if you can find a bag of these peanut butter chips, get at least two bags so you can make the recipe again in the holiday season!

Making the Recipe

Now, onto the recipe:

-1 box of chocolate fudge cake mix (any brand)

-1 bag of Reese’s peanut butter chips

-1/3 cup of vegetable oil

-2 eggs

Directions:

In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth. Combine peanut butter chips. Roll into one inch balls and bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 9 to 11 minutes. Enjoy.

How to Eat the Cookies

Now, there’s no magical way to eat these amazingly chewy, delicious cookies but, if you have a glass of cold milk nearby or a cup of hot coffee, these cookies go well with both. I want to warn you that this recipe is a little rich so you will be completely satisfied with just eating one or two cookies.

I love to store these in a cookie jar once they are completely cool and they are perfect to give to Santa on Christmas Eve. Your entire family is going to love this recipe and if you can’t hold out until the holiday season to make these, I don’t blame you.

For those that don’t like chocolate cake mix, you could try subbing out for another flavor that you like. I have always used chocolate cake mix and the richness of the chocolate with the slightly salty and sweet peanut butter flavor goes really well together. But, like I said, cake mix cookies are truly versatile and you can make them any way that you want to suit your taste.

I hope you try this recipe out! Enjoy!
