The Cafe from a time Forgotten

The Yellow Deli Front Entrance

There is a place in North Vista California, hidden among the downtown historic buildings and modern bars and coffee shops that make up the modern setting. When you hear the name you think of an off brand sandwich shop or another one of those hipster hangout neon bartender night clubs- But; when you come across the rustic front gates and natural overtones of a place that remembers what a real cafe used to be, you find yourself taken off guard by the pleasant yellow building that is The yellow Deli.

Walking up to the front gates is like walking up to the dresser that enters into the land of Narnia, and for those who have never been here before you half expect to enter into the realm where all epic quests and adventures begin. As you are greeted by the friendly staff, and smell the amazing aroma of the natural coffee and sherry wood that make up this rustic home style building, you quickly find yourself settling in to a place where you know you might be able to call you second home.

The Yellow Deli staff do an amazing job of keeping a friendly attitude even in the face of the most daunting of customers, even as I "The CEO of Epitome Publishing" walked up to their greeting staff, I found myself immediately calmed and humbled by the decor and attitude wholesome staff.

Yellow Deli Front Gates

For some time I did not think that Cafes like this one still existed. To be honest if figured that you could only find places like this in some back country road, or at the edge of small town where they still did not know what high speed internet was. This place came as an amazing surprise, as this cafe breaks away from the modern stigma of the quick pressed coffee hustle and bustle of fast food block chain coffee shops, and offers you a humble experience not unlike that a folk music pub. The entire place is kept in a warm and vibrant aura of highly well maintained wooden tables, all kept soothingly vibrated by the woo instrument folk music that plays gently from the in-house speakers.

Spiral Staircase The Yellow Deli

They even have a Spiral staircase, witch is something relatively unheard of in most coffee shops. However, the two story building with both indoor and outdoor seating, offers a comfortable working space for those who seek to sulk and work alone on computers, or enough space to work in quiet and general flexibility for those who are here to study or work with others in a group.

Motte Latte- The yellow Deli

For those looking a chance to expand the pallet and knowledge of your caffeine habits and are looking for something that agrees a bit more with your delicate digestion, The Yellow deli serves both regular coffee and a unique natural berry caffeine substitute called "Matte" witch was generously explained to me by one of the working staff, to be a type of relative too- caffeine. Matte has one molecule in difference to the usual caffeine compound, making it less anxiety inducing and much easier to handle for those with anxiety or stress issues.

I had a Matte tea myself, and found my energy both pleasantly relaxed, but enticed enough to actually focus on what I had come into the cafe to do, witch was- start into my cafe Reviews. The staff was even welcoming enough to allow me to take a few pictures of their cafe for this review.

More of the Scenery From "The Yellow Deli"

With a number of Fountains and relaxing scenes, I found myself quickly falling in love with this place, impressed by the organized ability of multiple service desks that allow you to order both food and drink from inside and outside, and both floors. The intuitive customer service creates a lack of lines and congestion and make you really feel like you have walked into a cafe heaven. A fantasy world where things get done and nice people make amazing conversations with one another. A friendly place where you anxiety just melts away and their is nothing left in your focus but good times and good food.

Added to that are the number of murals, that make you think about Christmas in your grandparents house, or being on your first date, or remembering the lyrics to your favorite folk rock band song. Witch is great because one of the staff members was willing to have a conversation with me about the nature of religion, and said that The Yellow Deli is a place of supporting a openly religious community where they all share the triumphs and downfalls of their community goals. He was also able to share some reading material with me that allowed me to ponder my own place in the Dogma of the current world state for a time, and welcomed me to sit and talk and ponder the nature of my own religious goals.

I was able to be informed of how they support the musical talent and abilities of the other staff, witch is a welcome change from the odd, dog-eat-dog policies of other cafes and coffee shops. The kind that find yourself in an odd competing stigma as the barista short cut you in on for the attention of someone you invited to a date. These amazing community goals, are what inspired me to start this, and other upcoming cafe reviews, where I personally hope to hold other cafes to the standard that The Yellow Deli has created.

Yellow Deli Upstairs Service Bar (The Yellow Deli)

I think it is safe to say that more towns and cities need places exactly like The Yellow Deli, but only to insure that the common focus of the Cafe scene stays where it should be, and moves away form the cold corporate representation of other cafe shops. As it was in the past that Cafes where a meeting place for people of all walks of life to come in, sit, practice a craft, advertise their friendly nature as community members, and have a good time meeting new people, or building more memories with old friends.

If you are looking for a place to really just decompress to a cup of good coffee, and good food then The Yellow Deli is the place to be.

I give this place Five Sugar Cubes- in praise. As it sets the standard of how cafes should be.
