Bread & Bakar Review: Aesthetic Vibes, Free Indoor Parking, and a Menu That Bridges Middle Eastern and Malaysian Flavours

Very rarely can you truly find a place that is aesthetic, has good food, and has free indoor parking at the same time, so that's why I'm really excited to share with you all my review of Bread & Bakar, a comfy spot nestled in KaMi Residences Mont Kiara. It's a spot that serves up both Middle Eastern favourites like BBQ skewers and hummus, whilst also having Malaysian favourites like Laksa and Laksam!

Note: Even as I was there, they were still adding dishes, so I'm sure that they will still be adding and removing dishes as they go. They opened in March 2026, and are operated by the same founders behind Patty & Pie (Aman Suria) and Crust (Sunway 163). The pedigree of the founders suggests a commitment to quality, and my visit confirmed that they are off to a strong start.

Location and Accessibility

As mentioned, it is located over at KaMi Residences. One of the most appealing things about dropping by here is definitely the fact that they have free indoor parking. It's a pretty small one, so I suspect that it may be full sometimes, but the day I went, it was actually raining, so I would say that it made it really convenient to walk over as it is completely covered from car park to restaurant.

The address is G-01, KaMi Residences, Mont Kiara, 50480 KL (Jalan Duta Kiara; it sits right on the Sri Hartamas/Mont Kiara border). Operating hours are daily: Lunch from 8am to 3:30pm with last order at 3 pm, and Dinner from 6pm to 10pm with last order at 9:30pm. As mentioned before, I suspect these details will change over time given they're pretty new, but these are accurate as of 26th June 2026.

Halal-Friendly Status

At this point in time, my understanding is that they are pork-free but don't have Halal certification. Do check with them if this is something that concerns you. For most diners, the menu should be accessible, but it's always best to confirm if you have specific dietary requirements.

What It Costs

I think what I'll comment on their cost is that there feels like certain items that are more worth than others. Their portions are a little bit small especially their breakfast plates. I think their Laksam seems pretty okay at their price point (of course I'm considering the fact that this is in Mont Kiara as well). Here's a breakdown of what I had:

A few notes on this. Their breakfast/brunch menu is quite different from their dinner menu, and I would think that for breakfast, their mix-and-match of dishes is a really nice option that most people will go for. There are some premium options that you have to top up to add, but principally, they have 2, 3, 4-, and 5 dish options for their mix and match breakfast. Starts at RM15 and you add RM5 for each dish that you add.

Their menu also consists of favourites like Laksa Johor (RM18), Nasi Kerabu (RM32), Bolognese (RM32), Cheeseburger and Fries (RM32), and their signatures include their Reuben Sandwich (RM40) Sourdough, salted beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut & mustard as well as their skewers. Their Chicken BBQ (RM12), Kebab BBQ (RM18), and even their Tempeh BBQ (RM8) are among the signatures that they have on their menu that you can check out.

How It Tastes

My general opinion is that it is pretty high in quality, but at least for the breakfast mix and match option, the plates are a little small. I had scrambled eggs, hummus, and a mini burger just because I wanted to sample a bit of everything on their menu.

Their scrambled eggs are actually really delicious, as simple as it may be. Really fluffy and airy, seasoned really well. I would say their hummus is a bit so-so. I've had my fair share of hummus having lived in Dubai for two years, so I would say it's okay to give it a miss. They added a hint of beetroot to give it the really eye-popping colour but I would say maybe it is also slightly because I don't have a sourdough to pair with the hummus as I was eating the hummus mostly on its own.

Last of all, their burger. Really nice beef burger. They have a smashed beef patty with a killer sauce that makes me almost salivate thinking of their bigger version of the burger. Honestly, really highly rate the burger! Would definitely recommend it if you're coming here.

The Laksam is a new dish that they added a day or two before the day I came over. I would say it is definitely hit or miss with different people. For me, it is a hit. I really like the rolled rice noodles, the soup, the way everything comes together. I really think that the rolled rice noodles have this interesting texture that I haven't quite tried before. It doesn't have that very herb-y (basically it's not filled with vegetables) filling that I get from some variants, so maybe that's why I really liked it. I would say this is a maybe order. Simply because there are a lot of things that I probably want to go back and try including their Reuben Sandwich and Meat Skewers. So watch this space, as I feel like I might eventually update this when I visit it again sometime down the line.

Their Matcha isn't too much to write home about. I would say that I wished that the Matcha was a bit stronger. Compared to most other Matcha Lattes I've tried from other places, I would say this version has a lot more milk.

Star Rating

7/10. Aesthetic, clean, nice food; I would say that this is a really solid spot. I would say it isn't cheap, isn't expensive, but I would generally recommend stopping by. I can imagine it looks even nicer on a non-rainy day as well!

The Verdict

Bread & Bakar is a welcome addition to the Mont Kiara dining scene, offering a unique fusion of Middle Eastern and Malaysian flavours in a beautifully designed space. The free indoor parking is a rare and welcome convenience in this area, and the menu has plenty of interesting options that are worth exploring.

The breakfast mix-and-match option is a great way to sample different dishes, though the portions could be more generous. The Laksam is a standout dish that showcases the kitchen's creativity, and the burger is a must-try for anyone who appreciates a well-made smashed patty.

While the prices are fair for the location, some items feel a bit steep for the portion sizes. However, the overall quality and the warm, inviting atmosphere make Bread & Bakar a solid choice for a casual meal or a catch-up with friends. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try the Reuben Sandwich and the skewers.
