Did you ever hear something like “one shot won’t kill you”? Well, that’s not totally true. For example for 18-year-old Gaby Scanlon (now 22), it almost did at Oscar’s Wine Bar and Bistro in Lancaster, England, after drinking a smoking liquid nitrogen shot called the Nitro-Jagermeister, given to her for free by her friend on the birthday. In a few seconds after taking the shot, smoke started coming out of her nose and mouth and she became violently ill. Gastroenterologists had to remove Scanlon's stomach.

You should know about foods that can be dangerous for you. Natural foods, not soaked in chemicals, have the potential to kill you. Don't start to panic or stop enjoying some nutritious fruits, veggies, and the sort, but you should be informed about such foods. From seeds to leaves, take note of where these foods’ naturally occurring chemicals and toxins are lurking. Others are just a matter of how much to eat, and how to prepare them.

Top Foods Which May Drop You to Your Knees

1. Rhubarb

If your culinary experience isn’t as high, rhubarb is a vegetable with bright ruby leaf stalks that are mostly used in jams, pies, and other desserts. Despite the fact that it looks like celery you can only eat the stalks. The plant’s leaves are full of a chemical called oxalic acid, which is used in bleach and rust removal. Eating such leaves may cause burning in your mouth and throat, nausea, vomiting, convulsions, or even death.

2. Cherries

Cherries seem absolutely harmless, but these little guys can do a lot of damage (their pits, actually). The seeds of fruits like cherries, apricots, plums, and peaches contain cyanogenic compounds that turn to cyanide when chewing them. If you accidentally swallow a cherry pit, don’t sweat it, as long as you avoid the broken pits. Just one or two of these seeds can hurt you.

3. Fugu Fish

That puffer fish looks inedible but is actually very dangerous. The skin and organs of these fish are full of poison. The toxin called tetrodotoxin can paralyze your muscles and cause death due to asphyxiation. The most frightening thing is that there is no antidote for it.

4. Peanuts

Peanuts are one of the most common causes of food allergies. About 3 million people in the U.S report being allergic to them. This nuts can constrict your airways and you may lose consciousness even if you’ve never had a previous bad reaction.

5. Shellfish

Shellfish is one of the most common food allergies. It sends more people to the emergency than any other food. If your mouth itches, you notice hives, or a stomachache, difficulty breathing, vomiting after eating crab, lobster, and other shellfish, you may be one of about 7 million Americans who suffers from the condition.

6. Elderberry

It’s better to avoid eating raw Elderberry in the woods. Consuming the stems or leaves will leave you with a severely upset stomach. It was also found that Elderberry juice made from the raw berries is poisonous as well.

7. Lima Beans

These little beans aren’t as innocent as they seem. Raw beans contain linamarin, which decay into a toxic chemical called hydrogen cyanide.

8. Cinnamon

If you inhale cinnamon, it may be the reason for inflammation and scarring in your lungs, gagging, vomiting, coughing, choking, and even death. It’s complicated to swallow or spit out the cinnamon because you’re essentially swallowing powdered bark from the tree. Avoid adding cinnamon to oatmeal or coffee.

9. Tomatoes

The juice of this red fruit includes poison in its leaves, glycoalkaloid, which cause severe cramping, upset stomachs, and anxiety. So steer away from leaves and stems.

But what about bananas? Bananas are very popular fruits, full of vitamins and minerals. So why do some people think they could cause death?

It is a fact. Bananas have potassium which is dangerous in high doses (about seven bananas). On the other hand, if the level of potassium in the body is too low or too high, it can result in an irregular heartbeat, stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea. Potassium chloride is one of the preferred chemicals used in lethal injections in the US, as high doses can cause cardiac arrest.

But don't be upset! Always follow the rule: "More is not better." It will help you stay healthy and happy!
