Let's talk about a recent trip I took to the southern part of Sri Lanka. My destination was the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, Galle Fort. This was my first time going to Galle, I heard so many wonderful things about it and I had a small list of everywhere I wanted to go from there. Within its ancient walls lies AQUA Forte, an authentic Italian restaurant beckoning you for a truly special dining experience, I stumbled onto this restaurant while reading an article on the many things we can do in Galle.

What drew me into this place was the backstory and also the pictures of the food on their Instagram page. But enough about me, back to the restaurant.

AQUA Forte's address is 62 Leyn Baan Street, Galle Fort, Galle, Sri Lanka. Stepping through the arched doorway felt like entering a romantic Italian street scene. (Not that I have actually been to Italy, but I imagine that is what it feels like) Cobblestone pathways guide you inwards, while artistic etchings adorn the walls, whispering stories of a bygone era. Soothing music sets the mood for a sophisticated evening, promising an escape from the ordinary.

AQUA Forte celebrates its Italian heritage with a menu brimming with genuine culinary delights. Freshly baked bread greets you at the table, ready to be devoured alongside homemade pasta like ravioli and lasagna. Each dish I tried was definitely a testament to the restaurant's commitment to using the freshest seasonal ingredients.

No Italian meal is complete without a perfectly matched wine. Here, you'll find a premium selection imported directly from Italy's diverse wine regions. Whether you crave a bold red to complement a hearty pasta dish or a light and refreshing white for your seafood selection, the friendly staff at AQUA Forte are knowledgeable experts, ready to guide you towards the ideal pairing.

Prepare for a taste sensation unlike Sri Lanka's usual rice and curry! At AQUA Forte, signature dishes cater to various cravings. For seafood lovers, the "Polpo alla piastra" offers a pan-fried octopus with a delightful combination of baked potato, olives, and a tangy sour yoghurt sauce.
