Fudge Shapes for the Holiday

Each year for Halloween there is a recipe that I make. It is actually a pretty simple recipe to make with very little ingredients to it. I take one full jar of smooth peanut butter to place in a microwave-safe bowl. Over the top of the peanut butter, I put one full jar of whatever kind of icing that I choose to use. This time I will go with the regular kind of vanilla icing. The entire bowl is then placed in the microwave for sixty to seventy seconds. The time depends on the type of microwave used. If making a bigger amount for more people it is better to add extra ingredients. It is always good to repeat the recipe if needed. This makes it a little easier to make more than one batch without worrying that there is not enough of something.

After checking to make sure that the icing has fully melted to look like milk I take the bowl out of the microwave. The peanut butter and icing get fully mixed together. The next bowl is ready with another full jar of peanut butter and a different kind of icing. The same thing needs to be done to this bowl. In a pan, I cover the bottom with non-stick spray then pour each bowl into their own pan. The mix gets spread as evenly as possible over the entire pan. I put them into the fridge for one and a half to two hours to sit. When the time has passed, I check to make sure that the fudge has hardened. The fudge will be nice and smooth in a more solid square or circle. The fudge is not meant as solid or hard as a cookie. It will have a little softness to it. If the fudge is complete, I take it out then begin to cut into the fudge. The fudge made into different kinds of Halloween shapes.

Sometimes I make or get different candies to place over the top of the shapes to make Halloween faces. I like to make a variety of fudge shapes and characters. The two fudges look and taste well mixed so that the character is half and half. The extra fudge that is left over is to make arms and legs for the characters. Just take two characters that look exactly the same then cut them each in halves to match just right. Icing is to keep the two pieces together. The extra icing helps with more icing to help make a little outfit. The extra icing makes it harder to see the icing holding the two pieces together. It looks better if there are two types of icing used. One icing should look like a belt while the other icing spreads away from it to look like a little outfit.

For some of the shapes that I make I just trim little eyes and mouths into them then decorate them. The icing is good to make hair that reaches out from the top of the head. Jack O' Lanterns look good with either kind of icing when making the fudge. An orange icing can finish the top or a little face made into the Jack O' Lantern. Little candies can make the faces on some of the shapes. When everything has finished, just take them all and place them on a plate or in a secure container. These make a very sweet treat depending on what kind of ingredients gets used with it. Cover everything up then place them all in the fridge until they are ready for use. Make sure to keep them separate from each other, or they will stick together. Do not press the tinfoil too hard down on any of them that have icing over the top because the icing will come off. These little Halloween treats are good for any event that is being had on Halloween night. They can even be used throughout the month of October.
