When it comes to enjoying this treat; I have some ideas on 7 ways for you to Celebrate National Chocolate Lovers Month. Though you may have started the year off on a diet; there are many ways you can enjoy chocolate without putting on any weight you have started to take off.

7 Ways for you to Celebrate National Chocolate Lovers Month

1, Of course, when we were kids; we all enjoyed eating a lot of chocolate. As you get older, you may be trying to watch your weight and eat healthy. But, did you know you can have a little bit and it won’t wreck your diet?

Since February is American Heart Month; dark chocolate can reduce your risk of heart disease. To read more about the benefits of dark chocolate; be sure to check out my National Chocolate Lovers Month post.

Also, it has been known to lower the risk of a stroke. So, now that you know a little bit more about the health benefits of dark chocolate; you can indulge without worrying about the impact to your health.

2, Drizzle some chocolate sauce over your fruit, popcorn, and vegetables. Since most of us have either eaten or seen chocolate strawberries; how about melting a little chocolate sauce and sprinkling it over some vegetables or meat.

Chocolate Balsamic Sauce for Vegetables

Use any vegetable you like. Hence, broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower mixed together provide a nice mix.

For the sauce; you will need the following ingredients.

  • 1/4 cup of bottled water
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon of sugar. Since sugar is not good for you; I recommend you read my National Sugar Awareness Week January post for some healthy sugar substitutions.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon of a high quality balsamic vinegar

__________________________

In a small saucepan; heat the first four ingredients above as the sauce is boiling; and, add the balsamic vinegar.

Mix together and pour over your vegetables. Or, if you are not planning to use it right away; store this in a small jar.

In addition, the above recipe would be a great sauce to pour over a piece of chicken, filet mignon or pork chops.

3. Make a healthy hot chocolate for you, your family and friends.
