We know how strong the temptation can be to reach for the nearest Mars bar when we get peckish. Whilst you’re working from home, it’s even harder to resist the lure and the temptation of the 'snack', so I've put together a list of healthy snack ideas to nibble on when you’re stuck indoors.

All snacks are 100% natural, require minimum preparation time and are made from items you’ll have readily available in your pantry or local supermarket.

1 - Dates with peanut butter:

If you need a quick sugar boost between conference calls or pounding out emails, get it the natural way. Dates have a low glycemic index which means they won’t spike your blood sugar levels. They contain choline, which boost your memory and brain power. Smear them with additive-free peanut butter (or an alternative nut butter) for a delicious little pick me up which will fill you up until your next tea break!

2 - Guacamole with rice cakes:

We couldn’t make a list of nutritious snacks without a cameo from avocado! Make your own batch of guacamole by mixing crushed avocados, chopped red onion and garlic with a dash of lime juice. You can throw in some tomatoes or bell peppers for an additional boost of yummy goodness. Dip rice cakes or crackers into the guac for a mix of fibre and healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Store it in the fridge in an organic coconut bowl and you can graze on it for a couple of days as and when you need.

3 - Smoothie Bowls :

A smoothie bowl can be breakfast, lunch or a healthy late night snack! Blend fruits and your favourite nut milk in your blender and pour it into an organic coconut bowl. It’s best to include at least one vegetable to balance out the sugar content. Garnish the bowl with freshly chopped fruits, nuts, seeds or granola. Use the time spent working at home to create your own smoothie bowl or follow one of these tried and tested, vegan-friendly recipes.

4 - Boiled egg with spinach:

Keep a couple of hard boiled eggs in your fridge for an easy snack. Eggs are loaded with benefits and can be one of the best healthy snacks to graze on! They’re a source of protein and help to protect bones, improve eye health and support healthy hair and nail growth. All very handy when you’re stuck inside working from home. Spinach, meanwhile, is one the best superfoods - bursting with vitamin C, vitamin K. It’s high in antioxidants, fibre and gives the immune system a boost.

5 - Honey with banana and chia seeds

If you’re into finding healthy eating snack ideas, then this is one of the easiest to prepare when you’re working at home. Slice up a banana, drizzle it with your favourite honey and sprinkle on some chia seeds. The banana will give you a natural energy boost whilst its potassium-packed goodness promotes heart health. High-quality honey contain antioxidants which reduce the risks of several diseases, lower blood pressure and improves the health of eyes. Meanwhile chia seeds top up your iron, calcium and fibre levels!

To make this vegan-friendly, substitute the honey with a pinch of maple syrup
