Coffee is one of the most popular beverages all over the globe. From dark roast to bold blend coffee to Ashwagandha and turmeric each country has its own unique coffee. Some countries like India, Pakistan, Spain, Austria, Mexico, Sweden etc. Have some of the most amazing and unique variants of coffee.

These variants are much more than just being dark roast coffee beans or bold blend coffee and are both cherished and enjoyed all over the globe. In this article, we will explore unique coffee variants from around the world. We will be looking at six different coffee variants from around the world and it will be much more than only classifying them as a dark roast or bold blend.

Coffee from Spain:-

This coffee is known as Cafe Bombon and is very popular. The preparation includes espresso coffee and the same amount of condensed milk. First, pour the espresso coffee inside the glass. And you filter it carefully and pour the condensed milk. It's really important to serve it in transparent glass to witness the two different layers. It tastes sweet and represents a candy vibe because of those different layers involved. In Spain, it's believed that if you enjoy coffee, you are a sweet person.

Coffee from Austria:-

The drink that Gail's from this region is known as Cafe Maria Theresia. Cafe means coffee in German and Maria Theresa was an empress in the Austro - Hungarian empire approx 250 years ago. Records about her daily royal schedule reflected that she always used to have two coffee breaks each day. In these coffee breaks, she used to have a double espresso flavoured with orange liqueur topped with whipped cream and grated orange zest. Of Course, sugar was optional in this recipe.

Usually, this coffee is prepared in a heat proof glass. The orange liquid commonly used is Cointreau or Cognac. Like many other regions of the world, coffee in Austria is an important part of the staple diet. It is highly consumed in breakfast and lunch. This region is quite famous for its coffee house culture which interestingly is also a UNESCO World Heritage. People of this area personally like the combination of orange with freshly brewed coffee and whipped cream. In Austria, coffee is believed to bring people together.

Coffee from Pakistan:-

The name given to coffee coming from Pakistan is called Phiti Hui Coffee. The name translates to whipped coffee. Well, most of the people in Pakistan think that the closest counterpart to this photo hui coffee is the Dalgona Coffee which became very popular during quarantine. The only difference between these two is that phytic hui coffee is enjoyed warm or hot.

This photo of hui coffee is something that started being a staple for Pakistan before coffee culture came to this country. However, if you go to Pakistan now and ask for this coffee, you may not find it that easily. The reason was, it was not something served at a large scale in restaurants or cafes but was made in homes. It was originally made with whole milk. It is thick and frothy in texture. The preparation time is not too long, it can be easily done in 10 minutes. You can easily make this with the things that you have in your pantry.

Coffee from Mexico:-

Cafe de Olla is called the traditional coffee from Mexico. The name translates to pot coffee. Traditionally, this cafe de Olla is made in Mexican clay pots using dark roasted ground coffee. It is spiced with cinnamon, cloves and is sweetened with refined cane sugar. These days people also add sarnies, orange peel or even Mexican milk chocolate. Piloncillo, also known as panela, is a key ingredient in the making of this coffee. It is used as a sweetener and is very aromatic. It comes in a corn shape and a dark brown colour. The flavour of this coffee will remind you of a combination of caramel and molasses. People here associate coffee with manners and being humble. This coffee was introduced via women Soldiers during the Mexican revolution while carrying stuff and making food.

Coffee from India:-

Sukku or Chukku Kappi, yes that's the name of the famous Indian coffee. Sukku or chuku means dry ginger and Kappi is the way south Indians pronounce coffee. It is found in certain parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. It's a dark decoction made out of dry ginger, coriander seeds, and instant coffee. There are various other recipes also Fenugreek, cinnamon and turmeric that can also be added but these all are additional spices. It is sweetened with Jaggery. The traditional way of having it is in a stainless steel tumbler. Consuming coffee is a key part of social life, especially in Southern India.
