Lena sat at the kitchen table, staring at the last piece of pie. She had baked it for her husband, Frank, but he had unexpectedly passed away the night before. Now, she couldn't bring herself to eat it. It was the last piece of pie they would ever share.

Lena and Frank had been married for 45 years and had shared everything. Every Sunday, Lena would bake a fresh pie, and they would eat it together while watching their favourite TV shows. They had never missed a Sunday.

But now, Frank was gone, and Lena was all alone. She didn't know how to go on without him. The thought of eating the last piece of pie without him made her heart ache.

As she sat there, lost in thought, the doorbell rang. Lena slowly got up and walked to the door. It was her neighbour, Mrs Jenkins.

"I'm so sorry for your loss, Lena," Mrs Jenkins said. "I heard about Frank so I wanted to come over and offer my condolences."

"Thank you, Mrs. Jenkins," Lena replied. "I'm just trying to figure out how to go on without him."

"I know it's hard," Mrs Jenkins said. "But you have to remember all the good times you shared. That's what will get you through this."

Lena nodded but wasn't sure if she could ever forget the pain of losing Frank. As she walked back into the kitchen, Mrs Jenkins followed her.

"I brought you something," Mrs Jenkins said. "It's a casserole. I thought you might need some comfort food."

Lena was grateful for the gesture, but she couldn't help but feel guilty. She had never been good at accepting help from others, especially after Frank died. But as she looked at the casserole, she realized she didn't have the energy to cook for herself.

"Thank you, Mrs. Jenkins," Lena said. "That's very kind of you."

As Mrs Jenkins left, Lena sat back down at the kitchen table. She still couldn't bring herself to eat the last piece of pie.

Days turned into weeks, and Lena slowly started to adjust to her life without Frank. She still missed him every day but, she was starting to find joy in the little things again. She even started baking pies again, but it wasn't the same without Frank, who was once there to share them with her.

One Sunday, Lena baked a fresh blueberry pie. As she took it out of the oven, she couldn't help but think of Frank. She missed him so much.

As she sat down to eat the pie, she realized she had saved the last piece of the pie from the week Frank passed away. She had completely forgotten about it.

Lena looked at the pie, and a flood of memories came rushing back. She remembered all the Sunday afternoons she had spent with Frank, eating pie and watching TV. She remembered how much he had loved her baking and how proud he had been of her.

She knew what she had to do. Lena got up from the table and walked to Mrs Jenkins' house. When Mrs Jenkins opened the door, Lena handed her the last piece of the pie.

"I want you to have this," Lena said. "It's the last piece of pie Frank and I ever shared. I couldn't bring myself to eat it, but I think it's time to let it go."

Mrs Jenkins looked at the pie, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Are you sure?" she asked.

Lena nodded. "I'm sure."

As she walked back to her house, Lena felt a weight lifted off her shoulders. She knew that letting go of the last.
