Straight People Make Gay and Trans Kids
In early 2010 I had a 2 year old and was pregnant with another baby. I loved going to the library for a free and fun activity with her. One trip stands out to me in particular. My little girl with her long blonde pigtails bounced over to me with a cute book about two penguins and their baby. She excitedly asked to check it out so we added it to our growing pile of books. It was called And Tango Makes Three. We were reading a lot of books about new babies in preparation for the big transition of adding one to our own home.

Runaway
Most children run away from home at some point. One of my student families had a laugh about their son’s plans the last time I was there, how they offered to help him pack food and clothes, and he complained the suitcase was too heavy. My experience went… a little differently. No one knew I’d run away until years later, when I laughed about it in front of my parents.

Choosing a Child Care
Selecting a child care centre is a difficult task that a lot of parents and carers end up facing at one stage or another. The decision to leave your child with complete strangers, qualified or not, is not one that a lot of parents take lightly. Unless of course you are like me, and are desperate for a day of sanity and peace with little concern given that these carer's are often very qualified. However, I was blessed with the good fortune of an easy going personality and previous experience working in child care - so I didn't have as much anxiety as a lot of parents would. Having been on both sides of the fence - both a parent and an educator - I think I have a solid foundation on being able to provide advice on selecting a child care centre.

The Identification Process
As we know from psychology that boys and girls experience a phase where "boys desire to be around boys" and "girls desire to be around girls". They do this because they are trying to learn about themselves. They want to make friends and understand their place within the world. It is an identification process that happens naturally during childhood. They want to learn about their gender. Families have to create an atmosphere for this development as children learn to be their individual within their world. This type of play is normal in humanity. Even though animals reciprocate some instincts that cause them to choose to around their same gender. This mimicking behavior is what other living beings have shown throughout history but humans have been the most prevalent and effective in this evolution of the mind. Human beings learn first from copying those around them.

Walking Four Miles When I Was Six
When I tell people I walked four miles a day to attend school when I was six years old and living in Mississippi, they usually roll their eyes and say “sure” as if to say, “I don’t believe you.” My mother and father were teachers who insisted their children get a “proper schooling.” As the nearest parochial school was two miles away from the tiny four-room house the eight members of my family were crammed into, walking to school became de rigueur. No matter the weather condition, my four older siblings and I walked to school – over twenty miles a week round trip. I would have liked to ride a bus to school, but the parochial school did not bus kids at the time.

Lucy And The Cow
Chapter 1 Lucy woke up so excited because today she and her mother were going to visit the farm! As soon as she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, she jumped out of bed and quickly ran to the washroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. She had a huge smile on her face, which made brushing her teeth very tricky. Once she was done, she quickly dried her face then ran back to her bedroom to get dressed.
