Mommy's Scared
I think about the first time we locked eyes moments after her birth. I saw a familiar soul and a face I somehow already recognized. In that minute I made the connection that every mother makes and never before had I felt so complete. The first few days were so scary - I was completely responsible for everything she needed.

The Giant Seashell
The blazing hot sun, torturous scolding sand and the sound of dangerously aggressive waves slamming into the rock walls a sound so eerie it could be the beginning of a horror movie. However , it is not a movie it is one little girl’s chilling everyday life.

Learning Methods For Children
The natural way for a child to learn is through play. For children play and learning goes hand in hand; they will benefit from learning situations that are enjoyable. By using building blocks, working with jigsaws and threading toys, and matching colors, textures, and shapes, children acquire essential skills, which enable them to learn to read, write and count.

The Little Black Book of Stories
Since the beginning people have wondered where stories come from. Are the things we tell ourselves to better comprehend our universe simply myth and the most beautiful way to unravel an explanation for the grand tapestry of connections we see and live each day, or is there more to it? Are they mind-maps incorporating everything we are and have been with everywhere we have yet to discover? Is the writer a conduit, a vessel for the story to come through, or do they stitch them into whole cloth by pulling various threads of imaginings together into tapestry and make something real out of nothingness? Tommy is only six years old, but he’s never wondered once. He knows where stories come from: the little black book under his bed.

Naked
The best age to get a septum piercing is 13. If you wait any longer, other people might have them and it won’t be unique, and if you get it earlier, you could just be going through a phase and it could be a big mistake. I told my mom that I really wanted one once I turned 13 and that I would pay for it with my own money, but she said no. That wasn’t fair because it’s my body, my choice.

The Brown Bear
Going through her grandmother's belongings weighed heavily on her heart. Penny spotted George, a brown bear puppet, sitting in her grandmother's rocking chair. She cried. Holding it to her chest, for as long as she could remember, memories of her grandmother, or mom-mom as she called her, holding George up to the FaceTime screen and pretending the three of them were having a conversation. Penny decided she would keep George. He even smelled like her with a soft, vanilla scent.

A World of His Own
December 12th, 2010 "You encourage him," Todd whispered in an accusatory tone to his wife. His wife, Emma, sighed indignantly and looked up from where she had been emptying the coffee pot into the kitchen sink. Her hazel eyes narrowed and she asked too quietly, "Encourage what exactly?"

Short Stories for Children
Alice's graduation Alice lived in Paris, France, with her parents. She attended a school called " L'ecole de Roses." Mrs. Richard, Alice's teacher explained perspective to the students and showed them pictures of buildings that were made in perspective. She gave an assignment in which the kids were to draw a street with buildings and houses in perspective. The person who had the best picture would receive a gift.

My hometown
My hometown isn’t just a hometown, it’s a loving community, caring and very involved! From the kids in kindergarten, to the freshman at the football games at night, cold chill thru the air...... you see your breathe, to the seniors on the field on thanksgiving Game of the year! Trying to beat the same rivals for decades!!!! Old school, same Thanksgiving games Guilford Indians against #1 undefeated Madison tigers. Plenty years in a row, to the old couch that pulled strings to keep you in school, I love my old town, my town has had its ups and downs. I’ve watched my children grow in this town and go to those football games! I was at every single one, no matter the weather! My boys practiced so hard and pushed thru some of the biggest challenges of their lives on those football fields, from heart ache, braking up with you high school sweetheart to the beating of two hearts meeting for the first time, and staying together for decades! It’s all here in my hometown. But one other thing stands out about mine, all the kids going to the Green to do Easter egg hunts, to Christmas carols, to stages set up with lights lit the whole walk way with candles in bags . The beauty it was.... to see! My kids, and all Guilford kids walking down the green to get their graduation certificates, heart full of life. To see the smiles on all those kids faces! Their -2 ears of heart ache and hardwork going to the end result! Watching the families gather, and that one kid that stood out. In the crowd driving a moped around the green honking his horn with a big banner in the back flying in the wind, proud of his brother to be graduating finally. Saying congratulations Tyman you did it!!! These kids have had their ups and downs in this town , One of the biggest heartbreak of Guilford was one of their friends, losing their life! I remember that day like yesterday my own we’re getting out of school soon, driving their own cars! And I hear, sirens racing down my road so fast I couldn’t understand why to a commotion of COPS and news tv reporters to find out that one of our own here in Guilford was shot and killed by playing with guns with a friend! Ethan Song was his name! And he lost his live to make new rules in the United States! Ethans law .. ..
