Please Give Mummy Some Peace!

My Dearest Grandson,

Yes, I know you're too young to read this. However, you are very intelligent for a two-year-old, so I know you will read this anyway!

Poor Mummy,

She never gets a break!

She cooks for you, plays fun games with you, makes you laugh, changes your stinky nappies, cleans up after you, bathes you, loves you when you're feeling unwell, and a million more things that a super-mum does when they look after their children.

She also looks after your little sister!

She really is a super-mum, and I think you know that already.

But, mummy has asked me to ask you to do something for her.

Now, mummy really, really loves you; and she loves playing with you, and she does everything she can to look after you and your sister through the day and night.

However, mummy can also get really tired.

You would too, if you were constantly running around after a little boy or girl who never sits down.

Mummy would like a break!

She gets sad when you won't eat your dinner, and when you say "no," to everything (yes, I can see you're saying no to that too!), but come on!

Just for a change; say yes and do something mummy asks you to do!

Mummy doesn't mind when you make a mess and throw your toys all over you're room, and she still loves you when you throw your food on the floor.

She even loves you when you scream the house down and demand her attention, even though you sometimes make her feel like a stroppy toddler too!

I can see you nodding with delight at my words; and, yes, I agree! Sometimes it is good when mummy is a toddler just like you.

Mummy also looks after your little sister.

Don't you think that your little sister would love some attention too?

I'm sure she would!

You see, my darling grandson; your little sister is a teeny weeny bit younger than you, and that means she needs love, care, and fun every day, just like you!

I know it can be difficult and frustrating when you're growing up. You're still learning, and there is a lot to learn!

The whole world can feel like it's ending when you're growing up in a very big world.

Parenting can be tiring too.

Yes, you are right. Grandma and Grandad can also look after you and your little sister, and we can take you out when mummy needs a break; but, Grandma and Grandad can't do that all the time. You see, Grandma has to take care of Grandad too, and Grandad can't always go out when he is in pain.

However; Grandma and Grandad also love you very much. We also love spending time with you whenever we can, and we love that you, your sister, and mummy live with us too!

Dear Grandson.

You are a sweet little boy, but sometimes you let the whole world get to you.

There are days when I just want to pick you and your sister up and hug you all day. Mummy would too if she could!

Unfortunately, the world doesn't work like that for us adults.

We get tired, and sometimes we get stressed too. That doesn't mean that we don't love you anymore.

We love you both very much!

Mummy was very tired today, so Grandma tidied your room and cleared your messy things away for you and your sister so that Mummy could settle you to bed.

We know that you both don't like bed very much.

But, bedtime is about sleeping so that you have lots of energy to sing, dance, play, and get up to mischief all day the next day, and you know that you like that very much!

So we have a request;

Will you and your little sister give Mummy a little break?

The world will still be here for you to make a mess, and scream so that everybody hears you the next day, and we know Mummy will love you forever for it!

Thankyou,

Lots of love from Grandma,

Grandad, and Mummy.
