Diversity In The Living World
How fascinating is the living world ! The spacious range of living types is amazing. Where ever we dart our eyes we see living habitat there, be it cold mountains, deciduous forests, oceans, freshwater or marine water. So the question is what indeed life is? This question itself has two implicit questions within it. The first one is a technical one that defines what makes a living organism all together different from non-living and the second is a philosophical one, and seeks to answer what the purpose of life is? As science students, we shall not attempt answering the second question. Let's try to reflect on - what is living?

Katonah Celebrates the Long Service of William “Doc” Smith
Back in the 1920s, Katonah resident William “Doc” Smith began a lifelong affiliation with the Scouts when he joined in Cold Spring, NY. After completing his studies in pediatrics and serving as a Captain in WWII, he settled in Katonah to practice medicine. He also started his association with Troop 1 in Katonah. Thus, February 9, 2006 was marked at the Katonah Methodist Church to celebrate his 50 years as Scout Master of the troop. But the milestone’s significance was not meant to imply an ending of any sort.

Changing your Major in College
If you have ever considered post-secondary education or college education, you'll learn that you don't have to choose your major at that first meeting with your Academic Advisor. I myself went into my college experience with an "undecided" major. I knew that whatever I chose I wanted to teach but picking a subject I felt more drawn to and was actually good at, was difficult. With time and practice you can become good at anything, but for me it was a matter of, how do I choose when there are so many subjects that I am interested in? How do I just pick one? Statistically, "about 1 in 10 students changed majors more than once: 10 percent of associate’s degree students and 9 percent of bachelor’s degree students." It's not uncommon to change your major more than once while other students never change majors. You'll find that while some of your peers drop out to pursue other avenues, others double major or spend more than 4 years getting their degree. College is a good place for you to explore avenues of education and recreation that you may not have otherwise been interested in or known about.
