The Joy of Little Things!

The antidote to exhaustion isn't rest. It's nature- Shikoba

I still sometimes think of the famous lines from the poem 'Leisure' written by W.H. Davies

What is this life if,

 full of care.

We have no time to

stand and stare.

I connect with these lines a lot whenever I get time to look around and enjoy the beauty of nature.

It can be in so many different ways like a walk in nature, a road trip through the mountains, looking out of your window seat in the bus or car and watching the trees moving backward, observing little things around, observing different gestures in people and their smiling faces.

I can stare out in the sky and around for like hours without getting bored (not that I have nothing else to do or I am a daydreamer!) It's just that I like being in my own company sometimes and observe the beauty of nature.

Just like these travelling is also an important part of our life. It gives us break from our daily stressful lives and gives us a chance to reflect on our thoughts, our way of living, our happiness and the meaning of life itself.

I have always been a travel enthusiastic but never got much time or money to travel more.

Finally! Two years back, I got a chance to visit Shimla ( The queen of hills) in Himachal Pradesh, India. It was an unplanned sudden two days trip to Shimla. I and my sister and my roommate boarded on an evening bus and reached Shimla at midnight.

As we were on the bus we were a little nervous as we have never sneaked out of our hostel like this before without telling our parents. But, at the same time, the excitement of watching the beauty of mountains was enlarged too.

The next morning we were ready to hit the day away from the humid summer of our city.

We were at the Mall Road, Shimla. How do I put in words the beauty of this city? It lies on the ridge of Himalayan foothills.

We were awed by the beauty of nature at its best.

Cool breeze making us feel cold in summer, trees' leaves dancing with the breeze, sky filled with clouds ready to rain, colourful pink flowers on the roadside, beautiful market around, and a beautiful school couple giggling in the corner.

This calmness and serenity were like cleansing our bodies and soul.

Our eyes were filled with happiness, contentment, and peace getting their best out of nature. It made us feel all the worries in the world and want to live just in that present moment and capture it fully in our hearts.

After spending a day there we boarded the famous "Toy Train"- A UNESCO World Heritage Site on our way back. It was a beautiful pink-coloured train with small compartments having the capacity of about 20 people in a single compartment.

This train journey was the second best part of this trip. It felt like a little room moving through the mountains and tunnels. As it was moving through the tunnels and beautiful mountains, the setting sun was enhancing the beauty of the scene more. It felt like as it was saying goodbye to us.

Takeaway

What I learned from this little trip was that there is nothing as compared to the beauty of nature.

Take a break once in a while from your busy schedules and enjoy these little beauties around you. You don't always have to travel so far. You can look for these around you too.

Nature gives us time to reflect on our thoughts too. Everything seems to get healed in nature.
