Vacation Gone: The Story of Kristel Candelario Who Killed Her Toddler

The title should already make your stomach sick. No one who does not want to be a mom should be a mom. Quick summary of what occurred in Ohio:

A mother (if you can call her that) went on a 10 day vacation and left her daughter to die in her crib covered in her own feces and was basically starved to death. This is the most disturbing article I’ve read on the internet in my life. A child should not be treated like a cat. A cat would be fine after ten days, they are animals of prey. Humans need nourishing and love, this was no act of love. A toddler cried, whimpered, hallowed and no one came to rescue. I’m distraught that a neighbour did not even bother knocking on the door to see if everything was alright. I know toddlers cry all the time and maybe that’s what was assumed. The mother left this child with a few bottles of milk and called it a day. Excuse me while I go vomit on my own words. Candelario came home to find her toddler dead. This woman was in Puerto Rico with a male friend. Who was this friend? Why did he not ask about her toddler? The woman to this stomach churning crime plead guilty. The child, Jailyn suffered for a week before dying in her playpen. After ten days of being abandoned she weighed seven pounds less than she had two months at the last visit. “Dry lips, and decal matter in her mouth and fingernails” that’s what was described.

The mother’s parents pleaded mercy saying that Kristen was not mentally stable. Are you kidding me? I cannot even. Women struggle with post partem depression and depression every day. “Nobody knew how much I was suffering” bullshit. Everyone who has had depression suffers but they get help! You want to go on a vacation and leave your baby? Get a sitter or your parents or a nanny even a Neighbour. You don't want a baby? Have you heard of adoption so many couples are waiting to be parents, praying, hoping that someone will give them that little piece that is missing from their heart. This woman had the nerve to call 9-1-1 and call for help pretending like she did nothing wrong! pretending like she was not taking photos on a beach, sorry did I say taking I meant posing for photos. Pretending like her child was not trying to survive on feces. Then, on top of that she got attorneys?? This woman should be ashamed. Jaylin had been calling for help for ten days!

Irony? Yeah, after all that we can still find the irony in this disgusting, horrifying situation. She left a baby basically in a jail and now you, Kristel will also be in a jail, except the difference is that you will not die, but be fed. I hope this woman suffers everyday with this regret, some think she should have received a death sentence, but suffering and pain is what this person deserves for the crime she committed. I hope that women in that jail make her see just how wrong she was.

This was an act of betrayal, how is it betrayal you may ask? A baby is meant to be protected from harm, is meant to be loved by a mother, no scratch that a mom. When a child does not receive this, it is a betrayal. A betrayal of love, a betrayal of a human life. How do we move on from this? We don't because we will always remember the day that a mother decided to no longer be a mother, but a killer. Now, I am going to go and spill my breakfast over the toilet.
