Two Sides.....

On May 2nd Las Angels, USA.

John was a seasoned detective, having solved many cases over the years. But this one was different. The killer, who had been dubbed "The Joker" by the media, had been leaving cryptic messages at each of his murder scenes. John had never encountered a killer like this before.

The Joker's method was also unique. He would use laughing gas to incapacitate his victims before killing them. It was a cruel and sadistic way to end a life, and it left John with a sense of dread every time he arrived at a crime scene.

Despite the challenges, John was determined to catch The Joker. He spent long hours poring over the evidence, studying the messages left behind, and interviewing witnesses. He was relentless in his pursuit of justice.

As the weeks turned into months, John grew more and more frustrated. The Joker was always one step ahead of him, leaving behind clues that were just out of reach. John was starting to wonder if he would ever catch the killer.

Then, one day, a breakthrough came. John received a call from a witness who claimed to have seen someone suspicious near one of the murder scenes. John immediately raced to the location, and as he arrived, he saw a man fleeing the area.

John gave chase, his heart pounding in his chest. The man led him on a wild chase through the city, but John was determined not to let him get away. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the man stumbled and fell to the ground, gasping for breath.

John followed the trail and eventually caught up to the killer. As he cornered the suspect in a dimly lit alleyway, he reached for his gun. But before he could even take aim, the killer turned around and revealed his face.

John was stunned. It was Michael, his childhood friend who he had grown up with and had lost touch with over the years.

Flashback:

John and Michael were the closest of friends growing up in the orphanage. They shared everything together, from their meals to their dreams. They always had each other's backs, no matter what.

One day, a family came to adopt a child from the orphanage. Both John and Michael wanted to go with them, but they could only choose one. They both pleaded with each other to be the one to go, but eventually, they had to make a decision.

John, being the clever one, tricked Michael into thinking that the family was looking for someone who was good at math. John pretended to be bad at math, while Michael showed off his skills. The family was impressed with Michael and decided to adopt him.

John was heartbroken, but he knew that Michael deserved a better life. He continued to study hard and eventually became a detective.

Michael revealed to John that he had always resented him for tricking him and allowing him to be left behind in the orphanage. He had endured years of abuse and torture at the hands of the orphanage members, which had driven him to become a serial killer.

"Michael, it's over. You have to come with me," John said, his hand hovering over his gun.

Michael chuckled, a cruel sound that sent shivers down John's spine. "You think it's that easy, John? You think you can just come in here and take me down?"

John's heart was racing, and he could feel sweat trickling down his back. He knew that Michael was dangerous, and he had to be careful.

But as John took a step forward, Michael suddenly lunged at him, his hands outstretched. John quickly sidestepped and drew his gun, but Michael was too quick. He grabbed John's wrist and twisted it, causing the gun to fall to the ground.

John gritted his teeth, feeling the pain shoot up his arm. He knew he had to fight back, but Michael was too strong.

As the two men grappled in the alleyway, John realized that he had to think fast. He remembered a move from his self-defense training and managed to twist free from Michael's grip.

With lightning speed, John drew his backup weapon and aimed it at Michael's chest.

"Drop it, Michael. It's over," John said, his voice low and steady.

Michael froze, his eyes flickering with a mixture of fear and rage. For a moment, John thought he was going to attack again.

They two facing each other with rising guns.
