Samsung Truck Heist Delhi

New Delhi: With the arrest of 4 accused, the Delhi Police (South- East District) has solved a sensational case of robbery in which a container loaded with mobile components, IC chips, and assembly covers worth Rs. 26.14 crores, belonging to the global cellphone giant Samsung company, was robbed at knife-point during the intervening night of March 31 and April 1.

The Police have seized the robbed container with goods and the knife used used by the accused for committing the crime.

Those arrested are Pramod (25), Sarvesh (27), Vinod Kumar Yadav (29) and his brother Pramod Yadav (25), all hailing from Uttar Pradesh.

At about 12.30 am, the night of crime, the Sarita Vihar Police station received information over telephone that a container carrying mobile components has been robbed at Road No. 13, Near Sarita Vihar Flyover.

Immediately a police team reached the spot where the driver of the container Ghanshyam, who works with Ghaziabad located A to Z Transport Company in UP, was present along with Sarvesh (another driver of the same company).

They had been assigned the task of delivering the mobile phone parts loaded in two containers at Sector 82, Noida Phase-II in Uttar Pradesh. Both of them had left Delhi’s Palam Airport with two containers. According to what Ghanshyam told the Police, upon reaching Road No. 13 at Kalindi Kunj, a white colour car intercepted and forced him to stop.

Two persons alighted from that car and slapped him and pulled him down from his vehicle at the point of a knife and drove away the truck.He further informed the police that shortly after that incident, Sarvesh also reached there with the second container and made a PCR call.

Consequently,a case of robbery was registered at the Sarita Vihar police station and investigation was launched.

Team and Investigation,

It was a blind case and the identity of the assailants was not known to anybody. Two teams led by Inspector Maninder Singh, SHO Sarita Vihar and Inspector V.S. Rana, Investigation officer Sarita Vihar were formed.

The two teams included sub-inspectors Rakesh, Nagander, Manish, head constables Lalit, Satish, and constables Rajesh, Dilshad, Mukesh, Satish and Manish were formed underthe overall supervision of Nidhin Valsan, ACP Sarita Vihar.

Several sources were deployed and antecedents of present employees of A to Z Transport as well as those who had left the job recently were verified. During the course of investigation, the Police came to know that even earlier some eprsons had followed the same modus operandi to rob goods.

After the Police mounted close surveillance, it was revealed that Sarvesh, the other driver, was using his mobile phone frequently while delivering goods. The Police team zeroed in on one suspicious number that was in regular touch with Sarvesh.

The mobile number was found to be in the name of the arrested accsued Pramod, who earlier worked as driver with A to Z Transport. he had quit his job a year ago. His movement was closely wacthed and the police also kept a close eye on his hideout.

On April 2 morning, a raid was conducted at his native village from where an Eicher Canter (truck) loaded with the looted goods was recovered. The accused Pramod and his accomplices Vinod Kumar Yadav and Pramod Yadav were apprehended when they were going to sell the looted goods.Their accomplice Sarvesh was also apprehended.

Interrogation,

During sustained interrogation, the Police have found that all the accused are drivers by profession and Pramod is the mastermind. He contacted Sarvesh and hatched the conspiracy to rob a loaded canter.

Sarvesh also wanted to purchase his own canter.

Pramod had asked Sarvesh to inform him about the delivery of any huge and costly consignment. A few days before the loot, Sarvesh came to know about the delivery of goods worth over Rs.26 crores.

He passed this information to Pramod who along with his accomplices Manku, Neeraj and Vinesh hatched a plan to rob the goods. Before executing their plan, Pramod also contacted Vinod Kumar Yadav (working as a driver at Chauhan Transport at Noida) and his brother Parmod Yadav (working as driver with A to Z Transport) to arrange for the sale of the looted property.

When the canters carrying the goods left Palam Airport, Pramod, Manku, Neeraj and Vinesh followed the consignment in Vinesh’s Tata Sumo vehicle. Throughout the route Sarvesh was telling them the location of the canters on his mobile phone.

When the truck carrying Samsung phone parts was close to the Sarita Vihar Flyover at Kalindi Kunj Road, they intercepted and robbed it at knife-point and fled away. They damaged the truck’s GPS system.

Their accomplices Vinod Kumar Yadav and Pramod Yadav followed them in another empty truck. After reaching Hathras in Uttar Pradesh, they transferred articles of the looted truck to another empty truck and left the looted truck along the road to mislead the police.

From there they went to their hideout in UP’s Kasganj district, where they were apprehended.
