What is at stake when a burglar absconds with unearned items?

The madness continues. A man committed an armed robbery of two people and stole their car at gunpoint in Lincoln, Delaware. Where is the rationality? Where is the selfishness? If the suspect had thought through his actions and considered his own short-term and long-term self-interest, then he would’ve never decided to go against the letter of the law an morality.

This male had options. He could’ve pursued a career. He could have earned his way through life rather than living second-hand on the backs of others. What he represents is something worse than the scared little boy who can’t figure out what he wants to do in life. A little boy can arrange his thoughts in line with reason. This male didn’t. For all of the ways that he could’ve attained a decent living, he made the choice to disregard legalities and is now in police custody.

Emotions drove this male to commit these crimes. The feelings-based process that this miscreant underwent demonstrates someone who could not deal with reality. Instead he took it upon himself to threaten innocent people. Imagine the gun waving at you from the male as you sit in your vehicle. Feel the panic and fear for your life as the robber demands your personal effects and your car. Picture the amount of relief that you experience when the suspect is taken in by law enforcement. Envision the $235,000 cash-only bond that should keep him behind bars.

Now, think about how he got caught. He should be given enough time in a cell to contemplate his transgressions. He will have to take on whatever is left of his mind and contend with the facts. He may have never for a moment thought that not only would he live in police custody but have to replay it in his mind like a streaming video. That same stream ought to display his ugly actions.

When did this male go against morality? Was it the moments in childhood or did his underdeveloped adulthood lead him to defy ethics? While no one was physically injured, everyone will bear psychic scars. The victims will of course feel the repercussions of such a traumatic event. But the thoughts may haunt, frighten, and bother the suspect for the rest of his life. And rightfully so. He should suffer the results of his actions. The mental makeup of someone so cowardly as to rob upstanding citizens of their valuables should create fear in this person. This male exemplifies the distortion of reality. He swam with the current of today’s terrible school systems. What separates criminals from law-abiding individuals is the idea that the idea of committing these crimes is irrational and the latter agree.

Harsh crimes like murder and robbery ought to be the focus of police work. For law enforcement agencies to be concerned with drug offenses takes away from these serious crimes. Cocaine kingpins should be able to move kilos of Peruvian white and be allowed to distribute to the streets. Meth masters should be able to manufacture as much of the substance without interference from cops. Police are too precious to be used as blockages to non-criminals. Drug production, distribution, and consumption should only be left to consenting adults. Police should be focused on rapes, robberies, fraud, and murders among other real crimes.

So, what are the solutions? The restrictions on licenses, the minimum wage laws, antitrust, and regulations and controls that throttle businesses need to be eliminated. When the day comes where private citizens will he able to enter into an enterprise as a janitor or a CEO, or whatever level within the corporate structure, that man or woman will be able to earn their keep in a free market. This includes would-be criminals.
