Reason First: A Champion’s Woes

How many times must a man get knocked down in life (even if he only fell once in the ring)?

Although Floyd Mayweather Jr. may hold a perfect record in the ring after win after win, his personal life has seen some more losses. In addition to being incarcerated years ago, his uncle dying, having the mother of three of his children, Josie Harris die unexpectedly, and now a daughter (not a child of Harris’) who allegedly stabbed YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s girlfriend, the champ’s head is certainly heavy.

According to reports, Iyanna Mayweather assaulted Lappatra Lashai Jacobs in YounBoy’s Houston, Texas home. It is said that she stabbed Jacobs allegedly after Jacobs pulled her hair outside of the residence. Iyanna insisted that she was YoungBoy’s fiancée. The whole sordid affair came to a halt once law enforcement and paramedics arrived on the scene.

Could all of this calamity been averted? Why did Iyanna Mayweather decide now to attack the young female? What are YoungBoy’s thoughts on the whole occurence? The entire situation seems to be like a good hood novel fraught with tension and contention. From the dual knives used in the assault to the $30,000 bond against Iyanna, this all has the makings of a decent Tyler Perry script, as well.

YoungBoy, who isn’t even twenty-one but has sired four children, one by the victim, with three mothers clearly is a country pimp. He has been able to foster an individualism and a demeanor about himself that draws the opposite sex. With women literally fighting over him, he has the ability to excite and entice. His role as a young man who is able to succeed in the rap game and have a more than unusual personal life, his game on the streets seems to be tight.

As far as Iyanna goes, she still might be mourning the deaths of her great-uncle and half-sibling’s mother. She could be going through the stages of grief along with her brothers and sister. This is the time for Iyanna to recognize that her actions mean that she may be restricted from future events and concerts related to YoungBoy. She’s without her man because she chose to get into a knife fight with Jacobs. She lost complete control and decided to lower herself to the level of a monster. Her brutish behavior brought the law to clamp the cold steel of justice around her wrists.

With the knowledge of who her father is, Iyanna in all of her nineteen years on this planet, should have had more common sense than to try to steal a man away from a woman of his. YoungBoy should promote how he handles his business with other females. It isn’t his fault that he’s an established artist and is able to court females at the same time.

Iyanna should be ashamed of herself for bringing even more ignominy to the Mayweather name. How selfless and unselfish and vicious can she be? Her self-destructive actions only point to a young woman out-of-control and in need of professional medical attention.

These incidents all relate to a champion’s woes. Floyd Mayweather Jr., the self-proclaim “The Best Ever,” has been going through it these past few months. Iyanna’s latest misconduct and the deaths of Roger Mayweather and the mother of Koraun, Zion, and Jirah all must hit his mind the hardest. Mayweather could calculate and use innovative techniques in the square ring to put up a perfect 50-0 record. Yet, his personal life has been taking hits like a speed bag. But this is out of the ring, Iyanna’s troubles coupled with Mayweather’s past may look unfavorable...now.

This is the time for each member of the Mayweather clan to dig deep not to edify their last name, but their first names. The selfishness that they should display should not include assaulting anyone or being charged with any other crime. Now is the time for business minds to generate income based on their own individual paths. That just might lift the champ’s head a bit.
