Mom Serves as Getaway Driver for Rapist Son

Efthimios Michael Zachary Mikedis of Marion County, Florida met his victim on Facebook after her aunt introduced them. The victim wanted to relocate to Ocala, Florida with her aunt who thought Mikedis could drive her the distance. The two hit it off on Facebook and spoke often.

After communicating on social media for a short time, the victim arranged the trip with Mikedis. On January 5, 2020, the 29-year-old picked up the victim from her home. Mikedis’s mother and another male passenger occupied the backseat of the van.

Victim Was “Instantly Scared”

The victim got inside the van but said that she was “instantly scared of him.” She told Mikedis she had changed her mind about living with her aunt in Ocala and asked to get out of the vehicle. Mikedis did not stop the van.

He drove her to a remote area with three trailer campers sitting unoccupied. Mikedis and his mother lived in the campers. Mikedis forced the victim inside one of the campers where he then forced an unknown substance into her mouth. She fell semi-unconscious.

Mikedis proceeded to rape the victim. As she floated in and out of consciousness, another male subsequently raped her. Due to her semi-conscious state, the victim could not identify the second person who raped her.

The victim remained unconscious until the following morning. When she woke, she attempted to call an Uber to escape the camper home, but Mikedis forced her into another trailer where he then stuck the same unknown substance down her throat and she passed in and out of consciousness. The man began burning her hair with a cigarette and again raped her.

Mikedis Drops Victim Off in Parking Lot

When Mikedis’s mother returned, they drove her to a shopping center in Silver Springs and left her in a parking lot. She immediately called the Orlando Police Department. Police transported the woman to AdventHealth Waterford Lakes ER for treatment.

Mikedis Arrested

After a short investigation, Marion County Sheriff's officers arrested Mikedis, who had since been arrested on a parole violation for a domestic battery by strangulation charge and was already in custody at the jail.

He is still awaiting trial on the charges.
