He’s got a friend in every single person who's lost accounts on social media or scrolled Facebook helplessly while locked inside Facebook jail doing hard time. Mr.Crawford was falsely accused of a crime and his account was banned without explanation or an opportunity to defend himself. He fought back by filing a lawsuit against the company -and won back his account and $50k.

Facebook Jail -the place social media users go when they’re accused of violating community standards, which are vague at best. Most of us feel the vagueness gives Facebook staff authority to personally judge content and penalize things they don’t like. Many of us have spent time in the social media slammer, unable to comment on posts, like posts, or do much more than scroll aimlessly, because someone didn’t like a piece of content or a bot made a mistake.

But, that story is for another day.

Without an email address, or contact us form, we’re forced to do our time without any recourse, without a trial, and certainly without an appeal. Many people haven't actually violated community standards; a bot makes a mistake. Still, no recourse.

Sometimes, Facebook deems our violation so offensive that it bans our accounts entirely. That's right: we can't log into our accounts, post any memes, or see the photos and videos we've shared with others for years. Gone in an instant are the friends we've made, and the photos, videos, and memories we've posted to the account.

Facebook Jail sucks, to put it nicely.

Crawford Wins $50k Lawsuit

One Facebook user fought back after the company permanently deleted his account when he had done nothing wrong.

After Meta permanently banned his account, Jason Crawford from Columbus, Georgia, filed a lawsuit against the company -and won to the tune of $50,000. Moreover, Crawford says he vows to help the countless other innocent people who lost accounts or spent time in Facebook Jail.

Like many Facebook prisoners, Crawford was innocent of any wrongdoing, but that didn’t stop it from banning access to the account. Facebook showed Crawford a brief pop-up explaining he’d been banned for “child exploitation,” a crime he knew he didn’t commit.

It Wasn’t “About The Money”

Crawford said filing a lawsuit against Facebook never was his intention, although opted for the route when he could not reach a “human.’” He told Fox News it seemed as if Facebook was run by ghosts. Many of us relate to feeling hopeless where the social media site is concerned.

He also made it clear that it wasn’t about the money. He wanted to clear his name and get back the years of memories he’d shared with family and friends on the social media site.

Crawford hired a lawyer, filed a lawsuit, and won by default when Meta failed to respond to his inquiry. He can access his Facebook account again although says he is still waiting on his money -and fully intends to collect his debt.

Facebook/Meta is sued every single day. I think most lawsuits are dismissed before they make it in front of a judge. I'm happy that Mr. Crawford won his suit, even if the win was by default. A win is a win, especially against a giant like Facebook.
