Evelyn's Backstory

Evelyn Hernandez was a young mother; she was an immigrant from El Salvador who came to America when she was 14 years old. There isn't much information about Evelyn's personal life, but we do know that she was a licensed nurse, and she did not speak fluent English. Evelyn Hernandez was born in El Salvador in 1978, she was a mother to a boy named Alexis who was born in 1996 in the United States.

Evelyn's Disappearance

Evelyn disappeared on May 1st of 2002. The night before Evelyn disappeared, she contacted her two sisters and her boyfriend. She seemed to be happy and even shared her excitement about her current pregnancy. On May 1st, Evelyn dropped her son off at daycare and ran her usual errands. However, after she picked her son up from daycare she and her son went missing. A theory brought forward by police that Evelyn and her son went somewhere (possibly out of the country) to give birth in a peaceful environment did not make sense. Evelyn and her son's passports were left at home including other valuable items she would have wanted or needed for her new arrival. Evelyn also did not speak English and could not properly communicate with most of the American population. This type of behavior was not Evelyn's normal behavior either.

A Lead?

On an unspecified date, authorities found Evelyn's wallet in a gas station parking lot. This put-up red flags due to the authorities finding cash and a disability check being found in her wallet.

Unfortunate Findings...

In July of 2002, the suspicions of many were confirmed. A badly decomposed body part was found under the Bay Bridge in San Fransisco. The findings consisted of badly decomposed youth male legs and part of a torso. DNA results concluded that the remains belonged to Evelyn Hernandez. Unfortunately, the remains of her son and unborn child have never been recovered or found safe and alive. The rest of her remains are also undiscovered.

Suspects?

When looking at suspects you also think of motives. In theory, Evelyn's boyfriend must be a suspect. It has been said that he was not happy about becoming a father and the relationship was very rocky due to the pregnancy. It has also been found that the boyfriend was married when dating Evelyn, this put his relationship with his wife in jeopardy and he needed a way out of the situation. As a person that is deep into the true crime world, I always look into the significant other first and foremost.

Laci Peterson...

This case is eerily similar to the case of Laci Peterson. Evelyn and Laci went missing within seven months of each other. It is a well-known theory that the cases are connected, and the suspect could be Scott Peterson. If this was a true theory that would mean that Scott Peterson would be considered a Pregnant woman serial killer. No one can point to Scott Peterson without true evidence or probable cause. Although Laci Peterson's case is similar, I do not believe that the authorities believe they are in any way connected.

Conclusion.

All theories aside, this case has never been solved, Evelyn's son has never been found and her unborn child's remains have never been discovered either. If you have information on this case, you should get in contact with the San Fransisco police station or submit an anonymous tip through a hotline. Prayers go out to Evelyn's friends and family.

The Missing or Unsolved

All of the stories I write about have some root in true crime. Most being missing persons or solved/unsolved homicides.
