In 2001, China was shocked by a horrifying discovery. Four women were found in a dark and cramped basement in Luo city, Duong Ha Nam. The police investigation soon uncovered a gruesome tale of torture, rape, and murder that had been ongoing for nearly two years. The mastermind behind the atrocities was Ly Hao, a 34-year-old civil servant who had transformed from a quiet and reserved individual into a cold-blooded monster.

A Sinister Plot

Ly Hao, once a respected firefighter, meticulously planned and constructed a secret underground dungeon in a rented apartment near his workplace. The basement where the women were imprisoned was a small, damp, and airless chamber hidden beneath an old house. It was divided into two rooms: a bedroom and a storage area where the captives were forced to spend their days. There was no running water or toilet, and the conditions were unbearable.

For nearly two years, he lured six young women to his lair, where he imprisoned them and subjected them to unimaginable horrors.

The Victims

Ly Hao had abducted six women, ranging in age from 16 to 23. The victims included Tieu My, his longest-held captive, as well as Tieu Khuong, Tieu Tinh, and others. Ly Hao had lured the women into his clutches by promising them jobs or relationships, but once they were in his power, he held them against their will, subjecting them to unimaginable abuse.

Captives of the Devil

Ly Hao had harbored twisted and sadistic desires for years. He fantasized about controlling women and making money from their bodies. He designed the basement as a place where he could indulge his darkest urges.

Over the course of two years, Ly Hao forced the women to have sex with him and other men while he filmed their encounters. He sold these videos online for profit. In addition to the sexual abuse, he also subjected the women to physical torture and starvation

Stockholm Syndrome

Tragically, many of the victims developed Stockholm syndrome, a psychological condition where captives bond with their captors. Despite their imprisonment, they developed emotional ties to Ly Hao, who had cunningly manipulated their minds.

A Heartless Killer

Ly Hao's twisted psyche manifested in the murders of two of his victims, Tieu Ha and Tieu Huong. Driven by a combination of rage and paranoia, he beat Tieu Ha to death and buried him in the basement. Later, he isolated and starved Tieu Huong, forcing her to eat feces and drink urine until she succumbed to her injuries.

In June 2010, one of the women, Tieu Ha, attempted to escape. Ly Hao brutally beat her and tied her to the bed. She later died from her injuries. To cover up his crime, Ly Hao buried Tieu Ha's body in the basement.

Tieu Cuong's Death

In May 2011, another victim named Tieu Cuong died from a gynecological disease.

Arrest and Trial

In September 2011, one of the women escaped and reported the crimes to the police. Ly Hao was swiftly apprehended and charged with multiple offenses, including rape, murder, and illegal detention.

During his trial, Ly Hao expressed no remorse for his actions. He was sentenced to death on November 30, 2012, and executed on January 21, 2014

Tragic Victims

While they were victims of Ly Hao's brutality, the three surviving women were also convicted of murder. They had acted under duress, killing two women on Ly Hao's orders. One of them, Tieu My, was sentenced to three years in prison.

A Scar on Society

Ly Hao's crimes shocked the Chinese public and raised questions about domestic violence, mental health, and the effectiveness of law enforcement. The case remains a haunting reminder of the darkness that can lurk within the human mind and the importance of protecting the vulnerable.
