Some people's social standing could not save them, while others were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I'm going to tell you about five celebrities who were sentenced to prison for crimes they committed.

1. Lola Margaret

Lola Margaret, a Nollywood actress, film producer, and director, was reportedly detained in the United States for wire fraud. Dammy Krane was arrested and held on similar allegations shortly before this article was released.

According to reports, the Yoruba actress had the money wired into her account in strange sums. She withdrew money on a regular basis, attracting the attention of police detectives. She was taken in by the police for further questioning, and she admitted to the credit card fraud. She was charged in court and given a prison term. She was released from prison in 2018 and deported to Nigeria.

Given the gravity of her conduct, the actress has chosen to relocate from Lagos to Ibadan and keep a low profile. Lola Margaret's career took off once she starred in the film Bisola Alanu as the principal role.

2. Uche Odoputa

Uche Odoputa, an award-winning Nollywood actor and television personality, was arrested with cocaine at Lagos' international airport in 2007. He was given an eight-month sentence. He said that he wasn't receiving any significant film jobs and that he couldn't afford to eat or house himself and his family.

Uche Odoputa stated he got involved in drug trafficking because he thought it would help him improve his living situation. His greatest regret, he stated, was betraying his family and enabling his London pals to take advantage of his circumstances by persuading him to do the crime.

He said in an interview that late Nollywood producer Amaka Igwe funded a portion of his legal bills. She stayed in touch with him at all times and never abandoned him.

3. Ibinabo Fiberesima

Ibinabo Fiberesima, a stunning Nollywood actress and former beauty queen, was charged with manslaughter and reckless driving in 2006 when she accidentally killed a guy named Giwa Suraj. Giwa Suraj worked at the Lagos State Teaching Hospital as a medical practitioner. In 2009, she was charged by a Federal High Court in Lagos.

A Federal High Court in Lagos removed Ibinabo Fiberesima as President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria on March 16, 2016, and sentenced him to five years in jail. On the 7th of April 2016, a Court of Appeal in Lagos granted her bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties, pending the outcome of her appeal at the Supreme Court.

5. Dammy Krane

On Friday, June 2, 2017, popular Nigerian musician Johnson Oyindamola, also known as Dammy Krane, was arrested in Florida, United States of America, on allegations of theft, fraud, and credit card scam. According to reports, an American jet firm, Tapjets, accused the artist of trying to book a private jet with them using five different credit cards that did not belong to him. After pleading not guilty to the charges and demanding a jury trial, he was freed from jail in Miami after meeting his $7,500 bond conditions.

The singer was given a lawyer and was scheduled to appear in court on June 23, 2017. All allegations against him, including credit card forgery, armed robbery conspiracy, and grand theft, were dismissed by American courts in August 2017.

6. Skales

Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known by his stage as Skales, was arrested in 2016 together with his former manager Osagie for defrauding his record label, Baseline Records. The duos were also accused of stealing money from the record label. Skales and his manager, according to Baseline Records, were making undocumented money. The rapper was eventually released from prison, but his manager had to serve a longer sentence before being released.

7. Sinzu

In the United States of America, Nigerian hip hop musician Babalola Falemi, better known by his stage name Sinzu or Sauce Kid, was sentenced to two years in jail for aggravated identity theft. He was accused of stealing bank card numbers. He also claimed to have taken over 15 people's bank cards. He had updated the account PINs and encoded the bank numbers into blank cards.

He was also said to have withdrawn cash from ATMs and used it to purchase items from establishments in the Idaho business region. He was also found with card encoding equipment and an amount of $6000, according to reports. He had been in police detention for the third time, according to reports. He was wanted in 2014 for stealing $300 from a supermarket ATM.

The rapper was charged with conspiracy to conduct bank fraud and identity theft, according to an Idaho statement. He was also charged with eight counts of bank fraud, identity theft, and possessing multiple counterfeit bank cards. After the other accusations were withdrawn, he pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated identity theft. For identity theft, he was sentenced to two years in prison. He got freed from prison on March 25th, 2018.

8. Naira Marley

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission detained Azeez Adeshina Fashola, a Nigerian artist known as Naira Marley, along with four others for alleged money laundering (EFCC). The musician was detained just a day after the release of his smash tune "Am I a Yahoo Boy" on the internet. He was hit with 11 counts of accusations. Naira Marley was arraigned in court and given bail for N2 million with two sureties after spending a few weeks in Ikoyi Prison. Marley said in a video that went viral after his release that he had been jailed 124 times in the United Kingdom, where he grew up. He rose to prominence in 2018 after collaborating with Olamide, Falz, Simi, and Lil Kesh on the remix of 'Issa Goal.'
