We all love a good true crime story, especially when the perp is a woman. Females don’t commit crimes at the same rates as men, and their offenses generally are not as heinous in nature. So say the statistics. This list of four terrifying female killers proves women can be just as vicious as men.
Genene Jones

Genene Jones worked as a nurse in Bexar County in Texas during the 1980s. While a nurse employed at the Bexar County Medical Center, Genere injected up to 60 children with various substances intent on harming them. Those substances included succinylcholine and heparin. The children became severely ill after the injections and some died.
The medical center eventually suspected Genene was involved in the patients' deaths. She was convicted of murdering Chelsea McClellan and attempted murder of Rolando Santos in 1984 and sentenced to life in prison.
Wanda Jean Allen

Wanda Jean Allen was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in 1982 and of first-degree murder in 1989. She was sentenced to death and executed by lethal injection in the state of Oklahoma on January 11, 1989.
Allen received a four-year sentence on the manslaughter charge after killing her roommate-turned-girlfriend. She claimed she accidentally shot her girlfriend and served two years of her sentence. During that time, Allen began a relationship with fellow inmate, Gloria Leathers, who was also serving time on a manslaughter charge. When Leathers was released from prison, she moved in with Allen and the two continued forward with a volatile relationship.
On December 2, 1988, Leathers visited The Villages Police Department to file a complaint against Allen after an altercation several minutes earlier. Allen followed her to the station. As Leathers opened the door to exit her vehicle, Allen shot her in the head. She died three days later at the hospital.
Wanda was immediately taken into custody and charged with Leathers’ murder. She was sentenced to death, despite evidence proving she had limited mental capacity.
The Execution of Wanda Jean is a must-watch HBO documentary for anyone interested in learning more about this case. Although Wanda Jean is undoubtedly guilty of multiple murders, the documentary will tug at your heartstrings, even when you’re a vocal supporter of the death penalty.
Mitchelle Blair

She claimed she killed her children because they had abused her youngest child, Matthew. Mitchelle told authorities that Stoni had abused Stephen, leading him to sexually abuse Matthew. Nine months after Mitchelle beat Stephen to death and hid his body in the deep freeze, she claimed she learned Stoni had also sexually abused Matthew and was forced to kill her to protect him.
Matthew denied those claims.
Mitchelle was taken into custody and sentenced to life in prison.
Jodi Arias

Hands down one of the most brutal female killers in U.S. history, Jodi Arias slashed her ex-boyfriend’s throat while he showered. Travis Alexander attempted to escape the vicious knife attack perpetrated by his ex-lover, although did not make it out alive.
Jodi’s camera captured what appears to be Travis Alexander’s last moments of life and his dead, badly wounded body. Jodi used such force when stabbing her ex-boyfriend, nearly decapitated Travis's neck.
After Jodi’s arrest, she put on a show for cameras and created a media frenzy during and after her highly publicized trial. She maintained her innocence and then confessed to killing Travis, although claimed it was done in self-defense.
Jodi was convicted of murdering Travis and sentenced to life behind bars. We can all sleep a little better knowing she will never see the outside world ever again.
