As the Winter came there was no other place to go other than the old barn house. So away the girl went to hide from the tension and stress of her home life. It was a very special and secret barn. It housed a very Beautiful Barn Owl. She often went there for peace and comfort before the Winter. But, now since the chilling weather she now called this her sanctuary, her home away from home, A place to be herself, A place no one could find her.

Day in and day out she would find herself going there. Sometimes falling asleep on the bails of hay that were there ,to her, for no apparent reason. Just to give her mind quietness and not be in fear of what home really was. The hope that no one would find her until it was time for her to come in. She spent most days with the barn owl. Telling it all the pain and sadness she has suffered. It was almost like it could feel her pain. Like it understood what she was saying or maybe just in her head to comfort her in her time of need.

Until one cold dark night she had slept too long. She was found, found by her worst nightmare He whose name shall not be spoke of again. See not one person found fault in Him. But one person knew all his faults. She did, she not only knew them she lives them and felt them. The beautiful Barn Owl now knew the secret too. The Barn Owl held this secret for it couldn't speak to tell. The girl too scared to ever speak of this man kept in all the pain and sorrow of what had happened in there. The barn was never the same after that. The talks with the Barn owl were never the same.

The Barn House was never the same. It was no longer a place to go for hiding or comfort. But a place she had to go so she wouldn't break down in front of anyone. A place she had to go because the barn owl was the only living thing that knew. The only thing she could talk to. Days passed, the girl thought what was done was over. Feeling slight relief, that soon came to past when it happened again. Twice a week, three times a week, until it was everyday.

A place where she went to the only friend she had, a silly barn owl, had became her least favorite place on earth. In that moment she came to realize that there was no longer a safe place. The only thing that could help her could not speak or protect her. It could only watch the abuse and hear the screams. So there, in the old barn house with the most beautiful barn owl kept a secret of all secrets.

The unspeakable things he did to her haunted her every waking moment and her every sleeping one as well. The shame she felt, and the pain she felt was unbearable. As she wonders if the barn owl remembers her and the things that took place day in and day out. She still thinks of these days. Thinks of Him.

So in that old barn house was a girl and her only friend. A barn owl. Whom She wept to. Talked to as if it were human. Where she prayed to the lord in it's presence that the pain and anger would go away. That she would no longer be touched by a man again. In that day she had set to run away. There on the doorway set this beautiful barn owl. Looking at her as if it had tears of pain in it's eyes. Flew away, for good. She lost her only friend, but also wondered if it felt her pain and couldn't bare to see anymore. She could understand that. Because she wouldn't be able to set and watch her bestfriend be abused either. It was time to show how strong she really was and fly away too. She thanked the barn owl for it being there for her. that girl will be something. That girl is me.
