Friendship
Care from a Carrion
It's easy to see why no one would expect a vulture to make a good support animal, let alone a friend. They're not the easiest on the eyes, the smell is pungent at best, at their table manners are just the worst. But when working on the seventeenth floor of a busy yet isolating and intimating building, you'll never find a better ear to listen than Vax'ildan, or Vax for short.

A lifetime friend can be made anywhere, I met mine in a martial arts class about 17 years ago. I might not remember the exact details of the day we met but, I do remember the countless days and nights that we have hung out. Billy and I are still close friends, but unfortunately, life gets in the way. Our days full of video games and laughter are few and far between, but when we can talk on the phone it is always a blast.

To understand this story you need to know what a rickshaw is. This is a rickshaw, if you have ever been to India you have definitely seen one of these before. There are millions of rickshaws in India, and in an overcrowded city like Mumbai, the streets are painted with black and yellow as these dominate the transportation world. Now that you know what a rickshaw is let me tell you about my friends, my stupid, juvenile and somehow always managing to-get-into-trouble friends.

I was ten, she was ten. I had been bestowed a task so grand, so important and majestic, I could not do it without her. The Safety Patrol Captain was out sick, I as Lieutenant was much more qualified for the captain job from the start, I would never be out sick, however I digress, that injustice is for another story. Captain Eric being absent for the day is in fact precisely what my tiny heart desired. An opportunity for me to shine.

(Names have been changed to protect the moronic.) “Oh, it is so on!” Patty glared at her brother and his two friends. The boys stood in the dining room, arms crossed over their chests, smug smiles on their barely adult faces.

“A good friend will help you move but a true friend will help you move a body.”—Steven J. Daniels Snacks Help He was supposed to be playing golf with his buddies. His wife needed to go to the animal shelter behind the No-Tell motel. Instead of dropping off dog food, she parked her car, got in his, and drove away. Then she called me to go back to the motel with her to wait for him out to come out. We made sandwiches, got some orange juice, some gin, some hot and sour pickles, and fire Cheetos. We went in my husband’s car so her spouse would not spot us. My spouse tried to deter me, but I’m ride or die for my girl. This woman has been my friend for thirty years. We have a plan.

Many years ago my best friend Phil and I had made rather hilarious blunder. We were both in our earl collage years and short on money, as most were at the time. I get a call one day informing me about a possible job, selling a product that I won’t mention for legal reasons. Seems a like a good deal, so I tell Phil about it and we agree to meet the representative.

When I was 12 years old, I went to the 13th birthday party of one of my school friends, who for the sake of privacy I’ll refer to as Anna. It was a sleepover and quite a few of us from school stayed in the attic of her family home. We went swimming that afternoon in the nearby river and did normal birthday party stuff like any pre-teens. It was a fun time. However, when Anna’s parents sent us to bed, the party didn’t stop.

...the backstabbing b!tc& that set-up a surprise birthday party for my then boyfriend whom you’ve had the hots for ever since, and then never told me about it until i found out from my sister because you had the nerve to invite her too and yet not think “omg, what if she told her and found out?” because you were too busy thinking up ways to snatch him right from under my nose, so i ended up looking like a great, big fool after i spent the whole day racking my brains out and going around to look for that perfect present for him

There are times: when I need to focus; to get facts straight; and, to recount or recall an episode in my life. It is only then that I can put everything in perspective to tell a tale of "a funny, TRUE story involving one or more of" my "childhood friends."

When my best friend and I graduated from college, we were on the lookout for an apartment or home to rent. We made our specifications list, and eventually found a place in a great area with off street parking AND utilities included! The monthly rate was slightly higher than others we had viewed, but the price on the others did not make up for the utility costs we would have had to pay. We signed for our first year's lease thinking we were getting a deal, and we were. However, it took a certain incident for us to realize why utilities were included.
