The agency "Novosti" reported that thousands of people demonstrated in the center of Berlin, demanding peace in Ukraine and stopping the supply of weapons to Kiev's forces.

A member of the German Parliament for the Left Party, Sarah Wachkennecht, called for the demonstration. And she stressed that the Germans should ask Chancellor Olaf Scholz to immediately de-escalate the conflict, stop supplying the Kiev regime with weapons and lead the European peace initiative.

According to preliminary estimates of the organizers, more than 25,000 people will participate in the demonstration. They carry banners that read: "This is not our war", "Diplomacy, not weapons", "German weapons are killing Russians and Ukrainians again" and others.

It is noteworthy that the right-wing "Alternative for Germany" party also called for participation in the demonstration, stressing the need to overcome internal political differences in order to seek peace.

The former French politician and European parliamentarian, Florian Philippot, called for stopping the practices of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who refuses to negotiate with Russia and has no qualms about starting a third world war.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on Zelensky to start negotiations with Russia.

Philpott wrote, commenting on this invitation: "This is the first time that they issued a correct opinion, as they asked Zelensky to consider the possibility of establishing peace, but Zelensky refused to even discuss that."

Philippot added: "The Ukrainian president does not hesitate to ignite a new world war led by the hawks of the American administration. Let us stop this man from his practices."

Moscow: Switzerland has lost its neutral status and cannot be a mediator to resolve the Ukrainian crisis

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Switzerland has lost its neutral status and cannot be a mediator to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, following Bern's repeated offer to mediate in resolving the crisis.

Commenting on Berne's offer of mediation, Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said today, Saturday, that "Switzerland has lost its neutral status and cannot be a mediator."

"For our part, we note that Switzerland, which has unilaterally joined the illegal sanctions against Russia from the West, is no longer a neutral country and cannot claim any mediating role in the context of resolving the Ukrainian crisis," she added.

Swiss Foreign Minister Ignacio Cassis recently expressed his country's readiness at any time to bring the parties to the negotiating table, resolve the Ukrainian crisis and contribute to the settlement.

More than 19 people were injured in an explosion during a marathon in Cameroon

Scenes of an explosion during a marathon in Cameroon spread on social media, injuring more than 19 people.

According to media reports, the explosion occurred in the city of Buea in the southwest of the country. It led to the injury of at least 19 athletes.

An armed group fighting the government claimed responsibility for the bombing.

A doctor in western Cameroon said 19 athletes were receiving treatment after being injured Saturday by several small explosions during a running race in the area where Anglophone separatists are fighting government forces.

There was no comment from the authorities in the town of Buea in the southwest region of the country, where 529 athletes were running to climb the highest mountain in West and Central Africa as part of the Cameroon Mountain Race for Hope.

Athletes from East, Central and North Africa and France participated in the race.

The armed wing of the Ambazonia Administration Council, one of the separatist militia groups, claimed responsibility for the blasts.

"Our primary target was the Cameroonian elite forces... who were tasked with securing the athletes. We will not allow Cameroon to continue occupying," said group spokesman Kabo Daniel, in a statement to Reuters.
