Manchester City are close to finalising Phil Foden’s new five-year contract and are looking to get it over the line very soon.

City reached an agreement in principle with Foden and his agents in September with the final details of the contract left to be sorted regarding image rights, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Discussions are still ongoing to get it sealed as fast as possible and the Manchester club will be hoping to get it finalised and announced very soon.

This is an important deal for the Manchester club as Foden has been at Man City since 2009 and has come up through the ranks at the club to become one of their most important stars.

The 22-year-old has already played 180 games for the senior team and has contributed an impressive 51 goals and 35 assists during that time.

The England international is now set to commit his best years to the club and being a Man City fan, it would not be a surprise to see the forward spend his entire career at the Etihad Stadium.

There is still an abundance of things for the youngster to achieve in his career and Man City is certainly the place to be at present.

Phil Foden secure his hat trick for Manchester City, scoring their sixth of the game against rivals Manchester United.

Erling Haaland also scored a hat trick for Manchester City, piling the misery on their bitter rivals.

Haaland turned provider for this one, securing his second assist of the game, as Foden expertly dispatched past David De Gea.

Manchester City's Phil Foden has agreed to a new long-term deal at the club. City have already tied Riyad Mahrez and Rodri down the new deals this window, so it was only a matter of time before Phil Foden's deal was agreed.

The player is set to sign the deal that will see him stay at the club until 2027.

According to Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail, Phil Foden has agreed to a new long-term deal at Manchester City. Reports from England over the last few weeks have suggested Foden would sign a new deal until 2027, and the player has now reportedly agreed to that deal.

Riyad Mahrez and Rodri have already signed new deals, and Foden has now joined his City team-mates in signing a new deal at the club.

The deal is reportedly worth £200,000-a week. The midfielder watched England's women win the Euro's against Germany two days ago at Wembley, and gave this brilliant reaction alongside Mason Mount when they scored the winner in extra-time.

Foden has already won four Premier Leagues at the age of 22 for Manchester City. If the club continue winning league titles at the rate they have been in recent years, the midfielder could end his career as one of the most decorated footballers in Premier League history.

Foden signed a six-year contract in 2018 — a heavily incentivised agreement that grew from his basic salary of £30,000-a-week after triggering specific targets.

Foden’s total of 16 goals last season was a career-best tally and left him only one behind top scorer Ilkay Gundogan. Rodri was the only squad member to have featured in more games.

Guardiola has used academy graduate Foden in a range of positions — operating on either flank and even playing as a false nine — with observers believing his best position may eventually prove to be central midfield.

City have tied the boyhood supporter down to 2027 in a deal that is expected to be announced over the coming days and likely to make him one of the highest-paid young players in world football.

Foden spent the beginning of this term recovering from a complicated foot injury sustained at the European Championship but has given Guardiola’s side fresh energy since his return.

He will officially sign the new deal in the coming days.
