I wish that I could have read Katherine Rundell's books when I was a girl because as I read them now, as an adult, they manage to touch me in ways that I know would have been more intense as a younger person and I wonder what woman I would be like now if I'd read them then. However, Rundell is an author who would entice you as an adult to read children's books as expostulated here:

Book Review: The Death of Sleep - Anne McCaffrey
The Death of Sleep was written by Anne McCaffrey and Co-Authored with Jody Lynn Nye. It’s the second in the Planet Pirates Trilogy, the sequel – of sorts – to Sassinak, which McCaffrey wrote with Elizabeth Moon.

Love of my life
Alright. That should be all for today. I think I can finally head home. It’s been a long day at the office yet again and the only thing on my mind is to get home and spend some private time with my dear hubby. I can barely contain my excitement, I’m practically sprinting through these halls to get to the exit. I must be careful as to not ru- “Ow!” Who did I bump into? “Hey Brenda, what’s the rush? Is the building on fire or something, haha!” “Oh hey Laura, no, nothing like that, I just can’t wait to get home to my love, waiting for me at home. So I sadly can’t stay and chat tonight. Let’s talk tomorrow” I continue to bolt past her and I look back to wave goodbye. Laura seems a little sad to see me go and gives me a little wave goodbye. Gosh Laura, you can be so needy at times, I promised we’ll catch up tomorrow, didn’t I?

Rachel Reviews: The Iron Man by Ted Hughes
I am determined to read more Ted Hughes and this is a good place to start, I think, with a children's book which is thin, with illustrations and a big font. It's not that I think he'll be a challenge but starting with something which feels inordinately accessible will hopefully build up momentum for me to pick up his poems and have a little delve there.

Rachel Reviews: Unmitigated Greed by Mark A. Gagnon
The world is a corrupt and cruel place but more than that it's being led by those who cultivate this through the exploitation of others as a business. This is the premise of Mark Gagnon's book where an organisation called the Council of Continents ensure that they and all their associates are profiting from crime, in particular, drugs. This isn't robbing your local grocery store: this is a slick operation with continental divisions being run by those who show that they are worthy through their loyalty, and dedication to the practices that the Council gains from. Valentine Fuchs is its current leader and greed is his motivator, above and beyond all else.
