My Unhealthy Relationship with Makeup (And How I Fixed It)
Let me start by asking, what is makeup? Makeup is a form of art, a way for us to express ourselves. It makes you feel something. It's symbolic in many ways. It symbolizes freedom of expression, no matter what your gender, race, sexuality, age, or religion is. It can be a passion, it can be a hobby and it can be a career. It makes people happy. Sadly, I forgot all that for a while.

The New Too Faced Collection
Too Faced™, arguably the hottest makeup brand on the shelves, is finally releasing a new collection, one that will most definitely outshine the drawn-out Peach collections. The new collection, Life's A Festival, features thirteen brand-new pieces of makeup, the original Unicorn Tears la creme lipstick that inspired the collection, a new brush, and oddly enough (though not in a bad way), sunglasses. There's a huge divide amongst their fans. Some fans are obviously happy to have a new collection, while others are upset that the brand has shown up a little late to the unicorn fad. Yes, they are beating a dead horse - er, unicorn - with this one, BUT it's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it's exactly what every makeup lover is looking for.
How I Got Here and Some Tips for You, Too!
My name is Krystal and I’m 29 years old. Growing up, I had no interest in makeup. My mom used to beg me to at least wear mascara, but I had no desire, LOL. As I got older, I started clubbing and, of course, wore eyeliner or the occasional eyeshadow, which consisted of just rubbing gold eyeshadow on my eyelids. Finally, when I was 18, I believe, I remember one day asking my mom if she would come with me to Walmart. I wanted to buy some products and get into makeup. She was more excited than me I think, haha. I’ll never forget. I bought everything for $85. I had no idea what I was doing, I just knew I was going to learn something; anything. I came home and sat in front of my mirror for hours trying to figure everything out, which was a total fail. I realized I would need a little bit more help so, where was the one place all the MUAs were? MAC Cosmetics, of course. I remember asking one of the employees how to contour and her exact response to me was, “You don’t wanna learn how to contour. Have you ever seen Kim Kardashian in person?” I kinda need to thank her because she made me even more eager to me learn. I refuse to be told no, LOL. A couple years later, my fiancé purchased my very first eye shadow palette that wasn’t from Walmart. It was the Kat Von D Butterfly Skull palette. I have learned every technique from myself. I am going to be honest—I have watched YouTube videos, but that can only do so much. I learn differently than others and I always have. I have spent days and nights almost crying because I refused to give up. Here I am now. I started posting my looks back in October of 2017. I’ve been featured in articles and the famous Fenty beauty website. I can’t tell you how proud of myself I am. To some, it may be nothing, but to me? Every like, every comment, and every compliment is one step closer to where I want to be.

The decade of 2000s was truly a decade of shimmer and colors, when people enjoyed trying out the latest trends like chunky hair highlights to glossy AF lips. Entering the new century, the beauty world was booming with new ideas and everyone was getting creative—including makeup. Makeup from the 2000s was just beginning to rise where cosmetic brands were releasing bright and bolder colors for makeup lovers to test out. It was truly the decade of experimenting with makeup, and it was surely a stunning era.
Jacqueline HanikehPublished 6 years ago in BlushBest Primers for Your Skin’s Needs
Primers may just be my favorite step to makeup and depending on which you purchase. It can also feel like the last step to your skincare, what with so many primers reaping the benefits of skincare whilst also getting your skin ready to soak up makeup and make it last nowadays. Some people find priming an annoying waste of time and money (THEY are probably both these things). I do not hang out with such negative people. Always kick it with people that bring your priming needs up, not down! If you really want to keep your mask on all day you just HAVE to do it. It’s one of those things—like buying tampons or eating healthy for a day after New Year’s. You just HAVE to! And if you ever wondered how to achieve the most flawless finish whilst also attending to your individualized skin needs, I’ve got your face covered (full coverage, of course).

For some of us, pale skin doesn't just happen in the winter. Ever since I was little I've had that "one shade too dark" syndrome when it comes to makeup. Everything gave me an orange tint, caked on, or looked great at first but then oxidized to become darker.

Being a 23-year-old woman has really opened my eyes up to the world of makeup. Some of my favorite brands have been Too Faced, Tarte, and Urban Decay, along with ColourPop for my lip colors, but I never used Huda Beauty products. That is, until now. I bought this palette about two weeks ago from Sephora online at JCPenney. I bought it because I needed some more pinks and purples to add to my eyeshadow collection. I am not disappointed with my purchase.
