The Real-Life Romance Inspiring Sabrina Carpenter’s 'Please Please Please'

'Please please please' song review!

"Please Please Please," Sabrina Carpenter's most recent song, is a gripping new track that showcases her unique blend of melodic melodies and emotional depth. The song, released on June 7th, has swiftly gained popularity due to its heartfelt lyrics, soulful delivery, and the personal touch that her real-life partner Barry Keoghan provided.

"Please Please Please" explores themes of vulnerability, longing, and the need for real connection as it digs into the complexity of contemporary relationships. The reflective tone of the song is aptly portrayed by Carpenter's passionate vocal performance, which engrosses listeners in her world of sincere admissions and private moments.

Carpenter told Cosmopolitan that she had been “working on the next thing for a minute,” following her last album Emails I Can’t Send. “I’m starting to feel like I’ve outgrown the songs I’m singing, which is always an exciting feeling because I think that means the next chapter is right around the corner.”

She discussed her approach to dating in the interview, saying, “A lot of it, for me, has been fate. I know that’s super broad, but I don’t actively look for it. The relationships that I actually want to put my energy into have to be so interesting or invigorating because they take me away from the other things I love. So yeah, it’s fun, and it’s messy. I think I’m still just at this place where I’m really enjoying the newness of all of it.”

She added, “When I was younger, the one thing I always thought was, why would I date this person if I didn’t see myself marrying them? I just wouldn’t even put energy into it. But now I have a mentality that there are relationships that are meant to be in your life, even if it’s only for a couple of weeks.”

The pop singer revealed earlier this week that August 23 will mark the release of her sixth album, "Short n' Sweet." She announced the project on social media, writing, "This project is quite special to me and I hope it'll be something special to you too."

The most recent single by the singer-actress continues where the music video for her April release, "Espresso," left off. In the new music video, she is depicted really going to jail after being arrested at the conclusion of the "Espresso" video.

In the video, which was directed by Bardia Zeinali, Carpenter is first seen sitting in a holding cell before seeing her partner in real life, Barry Keoghan, being carried into custody. As he is released from custody, she is there to support him, and we watch as she participates in his antics to abduct a man and loot a bank. The pattern resumes as Carpenter drives Keoghan away after he is arrested, cuffs him to a chair, and applies duct tape to his lips while kissing.

It reveals the true boss of the relationship and who wants to be in command. She also sang in a verse, "Don't bring me to tears when I just did my makeup so nice." Her spouse should take note of that admonition not to disappoint her, because she won't care if they do.

Fans and critics alike have praised "Please Please Please" for its sincerity and emotional depth. It's a track that not only showcases Sabrina Carpenter's growth as a musician but also offers a relatable and heartfelt portrayal of love and relationships. As she continues to evolve as an artist, "Please Please Please" stands as a testament to her ability to connect with audiences on a deeply personal level.

To the video, Barry Keoghan contributed an additional layer. He felt like the ideal JOKER of today at that place. Sabrina looked even more lovely in the video thanks to her neon fur jackets. Throughout the first few months of this year, Sabrina dated this "Dunkirk" actor. A couple of weeks ago, they made a big debut at The Met Gala.
