A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica (1991)
I once, around the Good Year 1989, played the opening riffs off of "Blackened" by Metallica, from an audio cassette (i.e. music recorded on magnetic tape unspooled between two plastic spinners, in a machine specifically designed to do so, called a "tape deck") of their fourth album ....And Justice for All. An aunt of mine, who was into the average arena-rock bands of the era, the Poisons, and Motley Crues, recoiled in horror. "That band SUCKS!" she exclaimed. "They'll never amount to anything!" That was her prediction. Of course, they went on to mega-stardom, success beyond their wildest dreams, becoming one of the top bestselling hard rock/heavy metal bands in recording industry history.
Vivian Stanshall - A Sadly Missed Ginger Genius
Introduction My friend Lee from Japan used to work for me many years ago and we loved the Bonzo Dog Band, particularly Vivian Stanshall.

Music plays a fairly major role in most of our lives, whether we realise it or not. Apparently, scientists have ranked the sense of hearing last in terms of the senses abilities to recall memories. And yet when so many of us reminisce about days gone by, we attach songs, indeed even entire soundtracks to periods of our lives. Maybe music isn’t fantastic for triggering a single intense memory, but it can instantly transport us back to our teenage years and the mischief we got into with our friends.
Lilly CooperPublished about a year ago in BeatThe Debussy Film
The life of Claude Debussy, the French composer, is explored in this very unique production of an early Ken Russell, whose visual flair and penchant for outrageousness became the cinematic hallmark of this creative artist. I know very little about Claude Debussy (portrayed here as both an actor playing Debussy, as well as the man himself, by the late Oliver Reed), except that he was French, refused to do much in the way of employment, and had affairs with desperate, despairing. and unstable women who had a penchant for suicide attempts. The narration, told by the French director of the "film within the film" that is this film, is sometimes hard to follow. There is the narrative of a crew making a film in the middle Sixties (replete with rock n; roll parties and go-go dancing), and then the film itself, and then the focus on the life of Debussy, the contemplative genius of a man obsessed with sculpture and high art, and using these vast intellectual tendrils to find his creative fire, to develop his weltanschauung. Finally, there seem to be the burnt, bitter relationships he left in his wake.

Imagine that you are in a warehouse filled with writhing, sweating bodies, pulsating beats, laser lights cutting through the smoke. People dancing, jumping, high, buzzing with a sense of unity, coming together to escape the mundanity of everyday life. It’s August 1988, the second summer of love, the year house music was born. You are lost in the moment.

I first saw "junk rock" punk rock legends Sloppy Seconds at the corner of Tenth and Bozart St in Indianapolis, in a neighborhood that was bad then and is undoubtedly worse now. That was at a rundown theater from the 1920s called The Emerson. I can't really ascertain if it is still there or not, but it went on and on for decades.

Mike Singleton - MikeydredPublished 2 years ago in BeatThe Pure Pitch Method Review
Though not a stand-alone singing course per se, Ryan Cameron’s Pure Pitch Method has the potential to be a helpful tool for singers. The basic idea behind this course is that anyone can develop their sense of musical pitch and obtain the coveted sense of ‘perfect pitch’. In times past it was believed that only certain people were born with this ability. In my personal experience, I’ve seen people that appear to have been born with perfect pitch, though that’s not to say that it can be learned as well.

Did I hear that right? I am sure that we have all been through the same experience with songs that we know and love. We hear a lyric, admire the melody, and then make the mistake of trying to sing it or discuss what we heard in front of a better informed audience.

Introduction I am currently listening to “Sweet Child” by Pentangle, a live album I had for sale on Discogs but have now withdrawn as it is so good. I am sure that they have some violence somewhere in their music but here are a few of my favourites.
