The 1970s were all about sex, drugs and rock and roll; Beat welcomes you to our Disco Inferno.
Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" was inspired by police brutality against (white) hippies
It began with the Hippies "Hippies" come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, but the word often conjures up images of white males in the 1960s with long hair, wearing bell bottoms, and getting high. This story is related explicitly to Caucasian hippies who were abused by the police in the early 1970s. Their situation led to the hit R&B song What's Going On, being released in 1971.

Let’s Howl at the Moon
I hope you enjoy these songs about the moon especially during spooky season with dark nights lighted by the shining moon above. Moonlight has been associated with romance as well as things that go bump in the night especially with a full moon beaming from above.

The underrated Dolly Parton Movie "Straight Talk"
In 1992 Dolly Parton did a movie called straight talk and it is one of my favorite pictures of all time. In a nutshell, the movie is about Shirley Kenyon played by Dolly Parton who used to be a dancer in some town in the southern regions of the United States and so in the beginning of the motion picture she’s on the dance floor supposed to be dancing, but she’s giving advice and so then she gets fired for it unwillingly thinking she’s giving advice to the boss, but she’s actually like you know advising her way out of a job Laugh out loud and then she goes home to her live in boyfriend Steve played by Michael Madsen and then they have a fight and so Shirley Kenyon takes her life back in her own hands. She takes the money she has made and gets her in her car packs up and takes his bowling ball, which is a running joke because she left his bowling ball through the whole thing and went to achieve her dreams in Chicago and quite frankly, I would do that myself if I could.

Prince reigns at the 2007 NFL Superbowl half time show
To me Prince’s 2007 performance at the Super Bowl was the best performance of all time and I say not only because I am a lifelong Prince fan but also because his performance was the best ever and they are still talking about it. His performance was nothing short of supernatural and phenomenal. I don’t remember which football teams were playing against each other that year but this Prince was the thing to remember and the only reason why I watched at all just to see Prince kick ass as he had always done and should still be here, May Prince rest in Power and Peace.

Enough Is Enough
Introduction This is just a piece I have been considering for a few days because I feel I have finally completed my vinyl record collection. Although the reality is that I will still buy vinyl, CDs and the odd download which I will burn to CD, it just that I have finally got hold of all the vinyl albums that have difficult to get hold of presentations.

My relaxing songs
Songs that help me relax and to escape the world are ones that would work for almost no one else. I relax to the most aggressive songs around, I also went to concerts to relax to aggressive live bands till poor health stopped it. Even though I am getting old the music hasn't changed, in fact its probably become more extreme over the years.

Let It Snow
" Baby, It's Cold Outside " is a popular song that was written by Frank Loesser in 1944 and made popular in the 1949 film “Neptune’s Daughter.” Even though the theme of the song is winter, it has become a Christmas song. Among the popular versions recorded of the song is one by the American singer and actor Dean Martin.

John Prine: The Myth of the Gentle Everyman and the Darker Reality Behind the Persona
John Prine: The Myth of the Gentle Everyman and the Darker Reality Behind the Persona John Prine is remembered as one of America’s most beloved songwriters, a gentle, witty, humble storyteller whose lyrics were praised for their humanity, humor, and emotional insight. His fans describe him as a poet of the working class, a chronicler of ordinary lives, a man who wrote with compassion and authenticity. His public persona was that of a soft‑spoken, unassuming Midwestern everyman who seemed incapable of cruelty. But the mythology surrounding Prine has grown so large that it obscures the more complicated, uncomfortable, and often unpleasant reality of who he was and what he wrote.

New York State of Mind
Songs that make New York City come alive in many different ways. Just listening can take you back to this vibrant city. " Fairytale of New York " is a song by the English Celtic punk band the Pogues, featuring Kirsty MacColl, released in 1987. It tells a poignant story of love and loss during the holiday season, blending elements of Irish folk music with a narrative style that has made it a Christmas classic. The title is inspired by the 1973 novel "A Fairytale of New York" by James Patrick Donleavy.
