Songs about Betrayal

The sting that sings

The tough slice of life when we feel someone has wronged, and the different answers depending on someone's situation, there could be salvaged to the pain. Sometimes it doesn't and there is no way to fix the betrayal. It's a sting that's hard to express how exactly it feels when someone we trusted has become a traitor. These songs have portrayed that definition in that moment when it happens and there needs to be a musical comfort from it.

In time, that sting will go away , here is a list of songs I've found to soothe that wound. I've comprised a list of songs that aren't the usual songs you hear that are about betrayal. It's a range of various stages and feelings depending on what happened to you.

1. King's Cross by Pet Shop Boys

"I've been hurt, we've been had"

I heard this song recently after going through the Pet Shop Boys album, Actually. When I heard the lyrics in reference to betrayal. Even though the song is talking about an actual place called King' Cross. It can be interpreted to a personal situation to sum up what that feels like in a scene where the rug had been pulled on you before the dice had been rolled. We never know what luck we have in the gamble on a comrade. It's up in the air about how and why this turned out why it did. But it isn't that it was too late, it's like how the lyric goes, "there is still no guarantee" The status quo has changed as much as we wish it didn't have to come to this. Give this a listen since it's a relaxed song, no tension, just a song of the aftermath of a sudden shift in our life.

2. Muddy Waters by LP

"Ooh, I will ask you for mercy, I will come to you blind, What you'll see is the worst me,I'm not the last of my kind"

Despite the betrayal, being dragged to the ground, and salted the wound. That wound by the one whom was in trust, that doesn't mean we are down for the count after being wronged so horribly. When a breach in that trust has happened, it not only brings the real person out of who we thought we could trust, it changes us as well. It's a rough song about bringing a traitor to light and knowing it has changed the dynamic. It's a song about the crossroads that this won't be the same, it's a broken mirror, and those shards will pieces of evidence of that broken trust.

3. Hanging By A Thread by Mike + The Mechanics

"I give an inch you take a mile,You throw away the key, ignore my plea,You cut me down without a trial"

Sometimes we don't get the chance to defend ourselves. There is a strange pigeonholed situation that we can't find our way out and we can't change that false testimony of what had been said. This song enraptures that moment of being cut down, hung out to dry, and framed for something untrue and we can't change it. As much as we'd like to think there is a resolve, that just doesn't happen. Mike and the Mechanics aren't known for this song besides "Silent Running" and "All I need is a miracle". It's a raw song that they conveyed perfectly about betrayal.

4. Everybody's Fool by Evanescence

"I know the truth now,I know who you are, And I don't love you anymore"

This song hits different then I was 12, now a a 24 year old I see it from the perspective that it's not just a play on the social media. It's that usage and betrayal is seen once that mask is gone. Everyone has a mask, it's easy to betray someone when we can't see beyond that mask. It's a cry on deaf ears to plea on someone with a shallow heart that has no idea how it has effected others. But in the end it's doesn't matter from someone that won't be able to co-operate for what they have done.
