Are you a songwriter or musician who wants to release your music to the world? Maybe you have a song that you think is ready to make an appearance but you are not quite sure if you are ready to let people hear what you have made. Today I want to share with you three things that I think about before releasing a new song. I want to share these with you so you can have the best song release for your new music. This is my list of three things to think about before releasing a song.

1. Are you passionate about your message.

Music is an amazing form of art that is a part of you. It is a way for you to express emotions and share a personal part of yourself with others. Before you share your song with the world be sure you believe in what you are saying. People who hear this will view you in light of your song. If it is on a topic you wouldn't want people viewing you alongside maybe you should go back to the drawing board.

2. Are you ready for the world to judge your soul.

Writing music can be hard and very emotional but sharing what you have made will be even harder. Music is like a piece of your soul and people will judge you for it. Are you prepared to hear the opinions of others? If you can answer that with a definite yes then maybe you are ready to release your song to the world. However, if you are not sure you are ready to have people judge you maybe take some time to either prepare yourself and figure out what is keeping you from not caring. Maybe it's the message or a fear you have deep down. Once you discover the reason you are afraid you can then overcome the fears you have and maybe taking that step and releasing your song that will be the step you need to take to gain overcoming the fears you have in your life.

3. Are you prepared to get feedback.

You must be ready to hear anything from the people who hear your song. People love to judge others and you must be prepared to receive both positive and negative feedback on your song. No matter how good the song is there will always be at least one person who will judge you. Don't let those people control your life and hold you back from success. Know they are out there and be ready to take what they say and grow from it.

I hope these got you thinking and you are getting ready to share your new music. Once you have gone through those and decide you are ready to share your song with the world you have to decide how you are going to do that. Here are three questions you should be thinking about before releasing your new project.

1. How are you going to release the song?

2. Do You have a promo strategy?

3. Do you want to go indie or through a label?

There are so many different ways to release a song. My suggestion for you is to either go indie or find a label that cares more for the artist than money. All the major labels are greedy and tend to make more money for themselves than the artists they sign will ever see even though the artists' work is what made the money. It is important if you go indie to have a solid promo strategy. This post is not here to give you that strategy but to encourage you to do your own research before making your release. The final step is to distribute your music to streaming services. Then your song is out there on all the major platforms ready to be heard. This may seem like the hardest step but it can be really easy. I use DistroKid to release my music and they do all the hard work of collecting royalties for me. And it is fairly inexpensive in fact if you want to release your music with them click here and you can get 7% off your first year. I really hope you are encouraged by this post and go out and make this world a better place because of your art.
