Selena, the series, which is a series on Netflix about the remarkable but devastatingly all too short life of Selena. The series goes more in death than the movie and there is a lot more focus on Selena as a little girl in the 70s, however, evolution into being a teenager in the 80s, and her transformation into adulthood in the 90s in the music business right along with her brother sister and parents – AB , Suzette, Marcella, and Abraham.

It also goes deeper in death about Selena’s musical evolution as a solo artist, and with her family band Selena y los Dinos. Something that the “ Selena” movie didn’t do was focused on how Selena became the queen of Tejano by constantly sleeping the Tejano music awards.

Also, the series focuses on Selena‘s career in the 80s, recording with Freddie records, and being discovered by another musical giant in his own right Freddy Fender. In the 1970s we see the band and families humble beginnings. We are showing what happened when Selena was born, a doctor mistakenly thought she was a tumor, but another doctor gives Selena‘s mother and father a better diagnosis they were having a baby girl. we also learn how Selena got her name and what it means.

No stone is left unturned in the series, in the 90s we witness of fully evolved Selena. Throughout the series we also see her brother AB’s evolution has her musical producer and how he created her hits. The night that the series premiered on Netflix, there was a special that aired before called.” Selena Dash the series virtual fans”. I was selected as one of the extremely lucky fans to be part of the virtual fan audience, and I really am not hard to find in that special.

When we the lucky fans filmed our part we were showing the exclusive parts of the show that is before it had aired. It is amazing to think I was in a special with Jennifer Lopez, who had played Selena in the 1997 movie. She filmed part for the special. In her cameo, Jennifer was talking about what it was like to play Selena, and what it meant to her after. She also talked about her gratitude and what playing Selena meant to her and how her life changed because of the role. The way the series was done is truly refreshing also, it doesn’t shy away from all the stuff the movie didn’t. It goes in depth with everything.

For instance, an example of things that you never knew until you watch the series was that one time a family of fans had shown up at Selena and Chris’s house. They told Chris that they were family members, but they were really fans and Selena ever the gracious person that she was welcomed the people into her home and hung with them for a little bit making their dream of meeting her come true.

Naturally, Selena the series is chock full of all her legendary and classic hits. The soundtrack itself I think of it as a greatest hits album because that’s what it is. The series is a thorough examination and telling of a beautiful life cut down, tragically all too soon. Contrary to what is shown in the movie of how Abraham finds out that his daughter Selena can sing where she comes in and sings your mind, we belong together along with him in the movie. In the series we find that Selena is singing by herself in the backyard playing, and Abraham happens to hear his daughters voice and follows it and there he discovers her, andcredible natural talent.
