Marcus AzariaPublished 5 years ago in BeatDocumentaries About Fyre Festival Have Been Released
Remember when Ja Rule was relevant? His deep raspy vibe flooded the radio airwaves, balancing Ashanti's high pitched voice in their hit “Always on Time.” Well, get your ears ready, because he is kinda sorta relevant once more, just not for his music this time. In late 2016, Ja Rule and Billy McFarland—the creator of a company that was already in the process of being found out as a scam called Magnises—decided to create another company. They not only made the company and announced it, but made a festival coinciding with its release. The idea of Fyre Festival was born. Billy, his employees, and some of the most influential models in the world like Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner started advertising something that they hadn't even started building. They promised jet skis, five-star catering, fancy villas, and music acts who found the idea sketchy themselves. The best part? The Fyre team only had five months to make everything they promised a reality.

What Hip Hop Has Helped Me Understand That’s typically how these things start right? We pose a question to the audience, then proceed to answer it. Well sure, but why? See what I learned from hip hop is that no matter how much things change, they will undoubtedly remain the same. That is the core tenant behind hip hop’s philosophy of what the Japanese call Champloo/Chanpuru a dish crafted through the mixing of different foods in a sort of stir fry. The anime hip hop fans will understand the reference.
Kuro SeijakuPublished 5 years ago in BeatRory Storm and the Hurricanes
This is a tragic tale involving Rory Storm who was an English musician and vocalist. He was born in 1938 as Alan Caldwell in Liverpool but took the name Storm and became the singer and leader of a Liverpool band known as Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. Actually, one of the Beatles, Ringo Starr, was the drummer for the Hurricanes before he met the other three.
Rasma RaistersPublished 5 years ago in BeatJosh Pfeiffer Transcends Genres with His First #1 Country Hit
Mostly known for his classic big band/swing era-type performances, Josh Pfeiffer is pulling out the surprises in 2019 and demonstrating that he’s not just a "one-style only artist." His latest single, "One More Time," proves his ability to appeal to an even wider fan base—and in this case, we are talking country, y’all!
Nikki Gaskins CampbellPublished 5 years ago in BeatThe Downfall of Greta Van Fleet
I previously wrote an article discussing the topic of comparisons between retro-rock icon Greta Van Fleet with the classic gods of rock, Led Zeppelin. I defended Greta Van Fleet, saying that they were gonna find their own individual sound and vibe come their next album and that ultimately they would shape their band into something unique. They released their new record Anthem of the Peaceful Army in October of last year and it’s been laying on me like a corpse ever since. It’s not good. Seriously, it somehow sounds more like Led Zeppelin than their efforts up until that point. The only difference now is that there is no excuse. My only question to myself now is, why did this happen?
