The Vinyl Myth
Throughout my years of moving through various musical circles consisting of music lovers, musicians, engineers, and audiophiles, one topic seems to be hotly debated among all of them, there is a real fascination among every corner of the musical community in a long antiquated music format: The vinyl record. Some people enjoy the tactility and the ritual, which is a requirement when listening via this medium, others swear by its "superior" audio quality. The latter are the group perpetuating what I'm going to refer to from now on as the "vinyl myth."

Concerts can be extremely exciting and fun, you get to see your favourite artists and bands live, listen to the songs you love and care about in a place with people who share the same love, but with every concert comes those people with extremely poor manners and self-entitlement that shakes you to the core. Here are some manners you need to adopt so you don't get glared at by fellow concert-goers.
Leanne SmithPublished 5 years ago in BeatTXT: The First EP
Big Hit is doing very well for themselves. Up until now, they’ve been making ridiculous amounts of money and enjoying great media exposure from their mega-group BTS. Big Hit has other artists under their label, but they haven’t made another boy group since BTS back in 2013. Speculation of a new group to follow BTS has been around for some time, but only recently have things picked up. Within the past few months, they’ve introduced teasers for a new group. That group is TXT, and on March 4th, they finally debuted.
Ralph Castelli Is Indie Personified
For a long time, I've tried to find music that reminds me of those classic 90s movies of suburbia, America. Something that brings me to tears easily or brings me to a nostalgic and calm feeling to a place that I have never been. Ralph Castelli's indie music accomplishes that music ten times over. Admittedly, I do not know much about the artist himself, yet from what I can scrounge from a quick Google search, he's a young man who's active on Twitter, grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, and is now in my golden state, California. He is a producer and a musician utilizing both instruments, and abstract sounds such as footsteps, his own voice, synth voices, etc.
Jacob HaroldPublished 5 years ago in BeatEpik High—‘Sleepless in __________‘ Album Review
Amongst all the hip-hop trios in the world, you’ll struggle to find one more consistent than Epik High. Forming back in 2001, the threesome—Tablo, Mithra Jin, DJ Tukutz—has dominated both national and international markets over the last decade or so. Their successful brand of thought-provoking music remains just as resonant in 2019, and their unique methodology seemingly develops to greater heights with each passing year.
Nathan SartainPublished 5 years ago in BeatBest Headphones for DJing
The art of DJing is often overlooked. Before I started, I honestly thought it was as easy as pressing play on a CDJ and watching the crowd go wild... anyone could do it, right? I didn’t realise the complexity of accurately beat matching, especially in a club setting. The time and effort it takes to build a standout set, meticulously select the tracks, and then read the crowd's response to said tracks and find interesting and exciting ways of mixing the setlist to keep the audiences attention—everything that goes into performing and writing a GOOD DJ set is pretty hard work.

I have the pictures of Olly Murs I bought, in frames on a door in my lounge. I have the cup,T-shirt, the CDs and even playlists of his work on Spotify. I cannot get through my week without a song or seeing him on television. So, what is it about this singer I love?
Carol TownendPublished 5 years ago in BeatKehlani’s 'While We Wait'—A Magnificent Piece on Navigation of Modern Relationships
The Oakland contemporary R&B singer and songwriter released her third mixtape, While We Wait on February, 22 2019 after a two-year hiatus. Her latest offering is her fourth project overall after her debut mixtape, Cloud 9 (2014), Grammy-nominated mixtape You Should Be Here (2015) and debut LP SweetSexySavage (2017). While We Wait was written and recorded during her pregnancy. Therefore, the title alludes to the wait of her baby due in March or her upcoming sophomore album.
Happy SabeniPublished 5 years ago in BeatHit the Ground Running: Living in the Shadows of Your Early Years
The following story is all too familiar: A promising young band or artist comes onto the scene, releases their debut album, and dazzles fans and critics with a fine work of art. When it comes time for their sophomore effort, who knows? It may have the same effect. However, in this situation, we often find that an artist fails to live up to the success or the grandeur of their debut effort and that their subsequent works fall short of the mark they had previously made. Sadly, we find many of our favorite artists living in the shadows of their early years, and while we may support them with each new release, we often wonder what happened to the fresh sound that accompanied them in their older days.
Sean MartinPublished 5 years ago in Beat'Wish You Were Gay:' Billie Eilish, What Were You Thinking?
It seems the world has effectively fallen in love with Billie Eilish since her first song released on SoundCloud, "Ocean Eyes"—went viral in 2016. With the release of her current title, "Wish You Were Gay," people are a little less excited and a little unhappy.
Christina St-JeanPublished 5 years ago in BeatRanked: Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series
Bob Dylan's Bootleg series is probably bigger than some bands entire career's worth of recordings. We aren't finished yet since we have only made it halfway through his career - we still have so many bootlegs to go (I believe). Up to now, we've got 14 volumes of pure excellence - versions of similar songs that never made it to the album, demos and short clips and even some songs that are completely new and recorded in their entirety.
Annie KapurPublished 5 years ago in BeatMokyo—Music For the Mind
Music is an art form, a captivating lens in which we can gain insight into the inner psyche of its artists, a gaze into the world we live in through differing perspectives, or simply just a form of recreational relaxation. It’s a complicated thing to master, but every once in a while a musician comes along that completely flips any and all preconceived constructs or definitions on their respective heads, and redefines what it’s like to be an artist.
