Rising rockers King Falcon hail from Queens, and they bring some of that New York indie rock swagger into the spotlight this spring with the release of their new song "Cadillac" on Mascot Records. This one is an instant earworm from the first melodic riffs coming from singer Michael Rubin's guitar, to the chugging bassline from James Terranova and the solid back-beat of time-keeper Tom Diognardi. King Falcon is being compared to Alternative Rock stalwarts like Royal Blood and Cage The Elephant - and they are definitely in that same musical pocket, with a touch of classic rock thrown in for good measure.

They have their own unique yet instantly memorable sound that's to the efforts of producer Marshall Altman (Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Frankie Ballard, Mark Broussard). The final mix is crisp and clean, Thanks to Grammy nominated Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons, The Airborne Toxic Event).

In talking about the origins of “Cadillac’, King Falcon’s Michael Rubin says “My best friend has had this 1957 Cadillac Eldorado parked in his garage for as long as I’ve known him. Every single time that we saw each other, I would pester him about trying to get it started so we could take it for a joyride. The car hadn’t moved in years - but it wasn’t in bad shape or anything, it had just atrophied as all mechanical things tend to do when they sit around unused and unloved”. He continues “One day I decided to take matters into my own hands. I showed up at his house with a couple of tools and a can of starter fluid and before you know it, we were cruisin’ down the boulevard in this unregistered Cadillac with 40 year old tires. Totally unsafe and illegal, but it was the single most fun I have ever had riding in a car. That old Caddy turns WAY more heads than any new Lamborghini or Ferrari! The second I heard the engine roar to life I knew that this was a special moment that I wanted to write about. The song came together after about 8 days of sitting in front of my computer screen listening to the bass part on loop (much to the chagrin of my neighbors). I felt that the song had to embody the coolness of the moment but also the excitement and danger of driving around in a 5000 pound car with crappy brakes and no license plates”.

The video for "Cadillac" is a nifty blend of live performance shots, car-chase scenes, and some whimsical animation thrown in for good measure. In talking about the the iconic 1957 Red Eldorado Cadillac used in the video, Rubin says “I got to drive this beauty with no brakes, no plates, and a flat tire—everybody, including the cops, waved as I cruised this spaceship around the neighborhood. We hope everyone enjoys the visuals we came up with!”

It' still early days for King Falcon, as they have previously released just a couple of singles: 2020's “Shake! Shake! Shake!”, and 2022's “When The Party Is Over". The band has also released a holiday track last year "Dear Mrs. Claus".

The next step for the band is to get back out touring again, and they have started that process with a limited residency series of shows at the famed Bowery Electric venue in New York City.

The band will be releasing more new music throughout 2023, with an album release TBD by the end of the year. If "Cadillac" is any indication, we expect these rockin' birds to soar to new heights soon.
