Jimi Hendrix is considered to be one of the best ever to play the electric guitar. He has to be at least top ten in every list that exists around the world involving the revolutionary instrument. He is a guitar god, and he bolted into the Rock scene right off the bat.

The electric guitar was invented in the 1930s, but it was not really used until the late 40s and 50s. As soon as that instrument came out, many guitar players were born, but there was only one genius that stood on top. That genius was Jimi Hendrix.

Yes, others came with him as the '60s music scene was just skyrocketing with just about every genre in music. There was the Blues, Rock and Roll, R&B, and others. With those music genres, came many masters at playing guitar, but Hendrix was pretty much the top dog. I mean Rock-n-Roll truly came from the 60s. Yeah, the 1950s had Rock, but it was not fully defined until the 1960s.

Anyway, Jimi Hendrix comes around and takes the cake. Jimi Hendrix's music could still come out in modern times and still be a big hit. His psychedelic style is what made it possible for the guitar player. It was more than his blues side. Don't get me wrong, Jimi's blues were sublime as well, but his experimental pioneering risks in the recording side with music was what made Jimi too.

The guy was meant to be one of the best ever. In the early 60s, he toured with the Chitlin Circuit as a stand-in guitar player for many R&B artists. He later ended up with Little Richards but had a fallout when Jimi was stealing Richard's thunder on stage. He was a hit but was always in the background.

Later, Hendrix decided to move on and start his own band called Jimi James and the Blue Flames. Didn't move up much with this group, but Chas Chandler from the Animals was impressed with Hendrix's guitar playing. Chandler took Hendrix to England to put a group together and decided to produce them. The rest is history.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience was put together, with Mitch Mitchells at drums and Noel Redding at bass, and created a huge chapter in Rock and Roll history in the late 60s. It was because Jimi was just a prodigy at playing the electric guitar. The Rock movement of that era was phenomenal, but Jimi's style was even more phenomenal. He pretty much created Psychedelic Metal as it was called in those days. Hendrix was a real heavy dude when it came to his abilities to play the electric guitar.

Again, the fascinating part about this guy was the fact that he pretty much topped all the talent that came up in the 60s, after Rock was born in the 50s. The electric guitar was only around for a few decades, and Hendrix came along and took up a giant notch. What he did in his moment of fame in the late 60s, set up a huge change in the genre of Rock.

Hendrix is a true guitar hero! Can you imagine what he could have done with the equipment guitarists have today!? Until this day, the guy is still considered to be at the top even when new guitar gods came after him. What he did then with the electric guitar is still admired today. Even the music he created with his fellow musicians is still something to be worshipped. Hendrix had this ability that made the music even better in the 60s. Imagine what he could have done with today's equipment? Ineffable!

Really, the whole decade of Rock in the 60s was amazing with musicians that were elite and still believed to be the elites in Rock and Roll history, but Jimi Hendrix's creative style with the electric guitar was the icing on the cake. Hendrix truly came right off the bat as soon as the electric guitar and rock came around. His waves will continue to expand throughout the Rock spectrum.
