When Jimi Hendrix came up in the 60s, he was different and introduced to the youth of those times something very new! The music he brought to the industry was groundbreaking. Yes, he played mostly blues, but he turned it into his own style. He brought a huge piece of bread to the music industry table. On top of reinventing guitar playing, his music also took on a different perspective. Hendrix’s music represented freedom at many levels. He became a guitar god and is admired by musicians from all trades even in modern times.

It was also very different to see Hendrix, a black man full of talent, perhaps the best of all time, lead a band with two white guys. This band was known as The Experience. During those times, Hendrix’s image was something new. It was far out, and his music was labeled as Acid Rock. Jimi Hendrix represented a free soul with ideas outside the norm. He pretty much preached peace and love through his music just like the hippie movement of those times. It is this perspective that bothered the US government during those times. Hippies were seen as a threat to society since they did not follow the norm or conservative way.

Well, did you know that there is a conspiracy on Jimi’s death? Yes, there are accusations that Jimi Hendrix’s manager from England, Mike Jeffery’s, purposely had Jimi killed. It is believed that Jeffrey belonged to a government group called COINTELPRO, Counter Intelligence Program. This group was designed by the FBI to study and try to eradicate radical behavior by certain individuals in American society.

Guess what? Jimi Hendrix was under the COINTELPRO scope since Jimi had introduced such a free-spirited image to the youth of the 60s. Hendrix was also, supposedly, starting to hang out with the Black Panthers. He did record more soul-like music before his untimely death by leaving his original band The Experience and forming Band of the Gypsys. It was also said that Hendrix was going to experiment with Jazz by teaming up with Miles Davis.

Anyway, Mike Jeffery supposedly had him killed according to conspiracy analysts. It was also believed that Jeffery had a life insurance policy on Jimi Hendrix, so the accidental death made Jeffery rich by gaining a million dollars. Who knows? If this is all true, this would be weird! It is believable that the government behaving aggressively during those times because the 60s was a funky era for the US, but to target Hendrix!

Jimi Hendrix’s death is still considered to be vague. For many years, it was considered an accident. According to the autopsy, he took nine sleeping pills and died of suffocation through vomit. Later, it was said that Hendrix left a “suicide note” to his girlfriend who owned the apartment where he died. The suicide note was actually a letter written like a poem several pages long.

Eric Burdon, the last musician that played with Hendrix, is the person who holds this letter that Hendrix left behind. Burdon claims that the letter states things that Hendrix always sang about. Burdon adds that the letter is a statement saying goodbye and hello to the world. Burden, who played with The Animals, stated that Hendrix left this world on his own accord.

It’s hard to believe that a person like Jimi Hendrix would take his life away while starting different projects with different musicians. Jimi was known for loving music at unfathomable levels and constantly spending his time recording. Hendrix had plans to play jazz, more soul music, and was even trying to hook up with Paul McCartney.

It is not very hard to believe Jimi Hendrix’s death could have been murder. Again, it could have been precisely an accident or simply a sad suicide as the press stated. Jimi Hendrix is a favorite for many people because he was a true gift for the guitar world! His death was too soon. If it was murder, the people responsible sure did get away with it! It would be nice to see justice done for taking the life of such an iconic person like Jimi Hendrix.

Anyway, who knows what this guitar god could have accomplished. Jimi hit the sky really fast and burned away with a very tragic death. It’s true what they say, “the flame that burns twice as bright, burns half as long.” Rest in Peace Jimi!
