Today was a long day in many ways, and it took a lot out of my inner “battery,” so I was feeling a little grumpy by this evening... however, while tucking my kids into bed, a song came on their music box that I just really felt the urge to share with my readers.

It seems kinda silly to share it since my target audience is not children, but I am a mom and that is one of my target audiences. I am also sure that I am not the only Mom who ends up listening to a lot of children’s songs! *wink*

“If all of the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops – oh, what a rain it would be! I’d stand outside with my mouth open wide going. Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah! If all of the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops – oh, what a rain it would be!”

After the stormy skies that I had to deal with earlier today, this verse reminded me that if I thought about life's storms as being sweet instead of ruining my plans... what a life I could live!

Then, I looked at both of my kid’s sleeping peacefully and realized that all of the pain with raindrops falling from my eyes that I went through last year has led to this moment of sweetness – from the raindrops turning into lemon drops and gumdrops in spite of the rain clouds that life keeps sending my way.

“If all the little snowflakes were candy bars and milkshakes – oh, what a snow it would be! I’d stand outside with my mouth open wide going ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah! If all of the snowflakes were candy bars and milkshakes – oh what a snow it would be!”

I paused again – thinking about how soon the midwest will be welcoming the first snowfall and giggled at the idea of being happy about it snowing candy bars and milkshakes. But, perhaps, the snow this year will allow my small family the enjoyment that candy bars and milkshakes give to so many others! I can always allow myself to share some hope, right? I will just imagine that the candy bars and milkshakes are vegan so that my kids can enjoy them too! *smile*

“If all the little sunshines were bubblegums and ice creams – oh, what a sun that would be! I’d stand outside with my mouth open wide going ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah! If all of the sunshines were bubblegums and ice creams – oh, what a sun it would be!”

After this verse, I realized that this children’s song followed a Biblical concept that Jesus showed to us all: be just as thankful for the rainy, snowy storms of life as we are for the blessings of the sunshine. I always love the feeling of deep, quiet peace that rolls over me after I recognize the Holy Spirit’s still small voice. *smile *

Oh – and as I am writing this post... I am now giggling thinking about how many cavities we all would have if the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops, all of the snow was candy bars and milkshakes, and all of the sunshines were bubblegums and ice creams! We would have a far different reason to complain about the weather then! hehehe
