With music streaming services all the rage these days, listening to music has never been easier. The prices for Spotify, Apple Music, and SoundCloud are cheap and feature every possible artist you can think of. One of the genres I have been into the past few weeks has been grime/hip-hop. If you're unaware of what grime style is, you're probably just unfamiliar with the name. You've definitely heard at least a few of the greatest grime songs ever over the radio or at a party.

Listening to grime, you will experience sick beats, quick-paced, profound lyrics, and soothing melodies. In order to lead you to this promised land of artistry and music, I've gathered a few of the best underground grime music artists below for your viewing and listening pleasure.

Capo Lee burst onto the scene in 2017 with his album Capo The Champ. The album contains seven explicit tracks, showcasing the British artist's penchant for profanity. Don't let the explicit tag fool you into thinking this is subpar — quite the opposite is true. Lee displays versatility and clever rhymes and he teamed up with some of the best producers in the music industry right now. J Beatz, Sir Spyro, and Shreddaare just a couple of names that had a hand in the beats of Lee's first big album.

Maybe the most successful in 2018 thus far of all the up-and-coming underground grime music artists, Lady Leshurr is creeping towards mainstream popularity at a frightening speed. She's dropped two songs in 2018, "R.I.P" and "Black Panther," that have close to two million views on YouTube. Her "Queen's Speech" series has over 30 million total streams on Spotify. Safe to say, she's on the cusp of becoming a household name. Once you hear a few of her songs and realize how good at rapping she really is, it won't surprise you that she's on the rise.

The king of the grime scene, Stormzy deserves a spot on here based on success and resumé alone. While not technically that "new," he remains recent enough to be mentioned. His first official studio album, Gang Signs of Prayer, was released in 2017, after all. With "Big For Your Boots" and "Shut Up" being certifiable smash hits and several other songs being well-produced and meaningful, we can only wait for Stormzy's next studio album and hope it's as good as his first.

B Young is one of the newest up-and-coming underground grime music artists, but he exploded onto the map with "Jumanji." His style can be categorized as wavy and soothing, perfect for a night out or just relaxing at home. He refers to his music as "rapping with a melody," and that sounds spot-on to me. With just a few singles out at the moment, you're going to want to invest some of your time to check out B Young before he emerges from the underground.

In tribute to Tom Hanks, Loski's biggest hit so far in his career is "Forrest Gump." While not specifically a tribute to the Hollywood legend, I see no reason why we can't pretend that's what is. His first official album, Call Me Loose, was released in mid-April, 2018. It doesn't get any newer than that. It features hits "Cool Kid," "Teddy Bruckshot," and the already-mentioned tribute to icon Tom Hanks. If you like Toy Story, you'll enjoy Loski, simple as that.

Big Zuu is from West London and may be the biggest rising star of all the emerging underground grime music artists. His pace is capable of being Eminem "Rap God" fast, which has resulted in fire in the booth more often than not. He is still relatively unknown, which is crazy. However, that does work in your favor if you start listening to him now before he blows up and becomes a megastar. Everyone likes the guy who constantly reminds anyone he talks to about finding something before it was big, right? You can check out his work on Spotify, but his YouTube page has all of his music videos, if you're interested in seeing those.

One of the more well-known underground grime music artists, AJ Tracey already has three albums out. His latest work, Secure The Bag!, came out in 2017 and was critically acclaimed almost immediately. The eight-track album is impressive and features other music stars such as Jme, Denzel Curry, and Craig David.

At only 24 years old, AJ Tracey appears ready to take the grime scene by storm, and maybe even the music world at large. We'll see where his career goes, but he's definitely an artist to keep an eye on moving forward.

Whatever you're looking for in the best underground grime music artists, Izzie Gibbs has it.

  • Mostly Unknown?
  • Freestyle Skills?
  • Meaningful lyrics?
  • Capable of rapping fast or slow?
  • Good beats accompanying his songs?

Yes, he checks all of the boxes. His best work may be his SPITIFIRE and ROADRAGE performances on YouTube. There are several on the JDZMedia page where you can see just how talented he is. It's evident that Gibbs is hungry for success, and with his talent for making music, it will find him sooner rather than later.

Along with AJ Tracey, Stefflon Don is one of the more popular underground grime music artists, but I don't see why that should exclude her from being on here. She's worked on songs with big names in the music industry like French Montana, Halsey, and Ne-Yo. The British rapper has been growing slowly over time and is reaching the top of charts in the UK and U.S.

Regularly compared to Nicki Minaj, there are more similarities than differences. Both are talented performers, have great songs, and can rap with the best of them. The 26-year-old artist is from the UK, has Jamaican roots, and can speak Dutch fluently. Those may not appear related to her music, but she takes inspiration from where she was from and where her parents were born. Okay, the Dutch thing wasn't related, but you can't deny that it's a cool fun fact.

Speaking of Stefflon Don, she recently collaborated on a song with another one of the best underground grime music artists, Abra Cadabra. "Envy Us" came out in the middle of 2017 and has accumulated 12 million views on YouTube. His most popular track on Spotify is his "Robbery Remix" with just over eight million streams, showing that he is still mostly under the radar.

Having one of the deeper voices of all grime artists, Abra Cadabra almost matches the baseline in most of his songs. His talent is undeniable and he's become much bigger due to his songs in 2017 with Stefflon Don and Krept and Konan. He has the flow and verbal skills to become the next big thing and it's only a matter of time before he does.
