1. "Re-Like You" | lovemedo

Aussie Singer-Songwriter lovemedo (Credit: lovemedo)

This self-produced pop artist from the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia is making waves in the pop world. Known to his friends as Blake Wares, lovemedo was typically known behind the scenes until he burst out and took the spotlight becoming his own artist.

Both his debut single "Re-Like You" and his latest release "You Kiss Everyone" are poppy, eclectic soundtracks that just make you want to party. His music is all about re-creating memories that you may have lived or moments you long for, as he revealed in a recent Pile Rats interview.

"I’ve always loved those pop anthems that you find yourself soundtracking your life to... at any time you can momentarily step into that nostalgic world and euphoria. Other times it can create a longing for a memory or time that you may never even have lived.. so I try to recreate that myself."

"Re-Like You" has really revealed this young artist to be a successful one and shows us all the talent and potential he has to really establish himself in the industry. According to lovemedo, the song was never indented to be heard which is why it was written so honestly. The hard-hitting drum and bass have 80s style pop feels and even includes a glass smash before the chorus, which I think is awesome.

"This song is a prime example of why I make music... I can turn something that messed me up, into something that I can now sing and dance about."

Thank you to Diana for the suggestion and thank you to YOU lovemedo for making awesome music. Can't wait to see what comes next!

2. "Catalina" | Wicked Things

Sydney-Based Rock Band Wicked Things (Credit: Wicked Things)

It's no question that these boys just wanna ROCK, and that's exactly what they do. With sounds that are similar to that of Van Halen and Guns n' Roses, the Hills brothers Blade, Cooper, Gericho and Kaleb are showing the world they have what it takes.

After winning Soundcheck's Battle of the Bands in Sydney, Wicked Things really is taking the world by storm touring and performing alongside Dune Rats at the London Big Day Out festival as well as going on a full Stoke Euro tour.

Their song "Catalina" was requested for Friday's Five at 5, and let me tell you it's a banger of a track! It is pure classic rock with guitars shredding and the drums going off. It even features a double guitar solo which is simply electrifying. It's lucky the brothers have the rock n' roll hair that they do because it is PERFECT for head-banging to this one.

These boys are a funny lot and they get on like a house on fire; they act more like best mates than brothers according to Stoke.

“We all do some form of acrobatics and martial arts, so when we go live, people aren’t just there to listen to music they want to see cool stuff too. So we’ll do flips off stage and do the splits and jump kicks. And even lame stuff like playing the guitar back to back like they did on those cheesy 80’s rock videos. The crowd loves it.”

The boys are heading out to Oktoberfest in Germany to finish off the Stoke Euro tour, so catch them if you can!

3. "Worst Case Scenario" | Marty

All Female Pop Trio Marty (Credit: The Band Marty)

This awesome indie band from Nottingham, England is bringing girl power back into music. They are dedicated to experimenting with new sound and styles, and that is exactly what they are doing with their latest release "Worst Case Scenario."

After working as solo musicians, Aimee May Stones, Krista Ford and Rhianne Mee joined together to form the band, and although they haven't been together for that long that have proved to be a strong powerful force to be reckoned with.

"Worst Case Scenario" is just as cute and unique as the girls are with the rich guitar rhythms, piano melodies, and gorgeous harmonies shining through.

After releasing their debut single "Fame" earlier this year, the girls have seen a rise in popularity and fan love after selling out their EP Launch night at the start of this month. Oh yes, that's right, these girls have an EP coming and it's gonna be a good one.

Keep an eye out for the EP on the 28th of this month; that's just over a week away!

4. "Ugly" | Deb Never

US Musician Deb Never (Credit: Deb Never)

This LA based powerhouse musician is shaking up things with her genre-meshing grunge-emo-bass-chill style music.

Deb has recently become the first female vocalist to feature on a BROCKHAMPTON song, with "NO HALO" being released last month, and now her debut EP House on Wheels is out in the world.

Her most popular track "Ugly" is boasting over a million streams on Spotify and is also the first track on the new EP. This honestly beautiful sad song is a self-inquisitive track where she vents about relationships and wondering whether she is desperate or just hurting.

Without a doubt, Deb Never is defining her own identity in music and not letting others define who she is or what her music represents.

"I think music is such an honest way of representing yourself and saying things you would probably never say in real life. You can say I’m this or that but I’ll tell you exactly how I’m feeling and show you who I am through my art." [read more here]

I really do enjoy Deb's music and it brings me such joy that she is doing so well. We need more powerful women in the industry and she is doing it for all of us! Cheers again to Tobin for the awesome request.

5. "Lady" | Loretta

Aussie Indie-Pop Band Loretta (Credit: Loretta)

These boys have got the indie pop groove down pat! The combined talents of Ellis Hall, Max Jacobs, Nico Scali and Daryl Chin has brought us two incredibly catchy singles, with their debut hit 'Come Over' grossing over 370,000 streams!

"Lady" was released just last week and the boys have not disappointed with another awesome track. Its chilled out vibes makes you feel like you're dancing around a campfire with your friends or jamming out in the car on a fun road trip. Something about this charming song just makes you so happy and relaxed.

To celebrate the release of the new single, Loretta will be throwing a little party at Freda's Bar in Sydney on Thursday October 10. Get there if you can, it'll be a great night with the boys there as well as Sunday Avenue and Run Marlowe.

Another great Aussie band doing their thing. Well done boys! Can't wait to hear more.
