One of the best VMA moments ever!

Something like what had taken place during the 1996 MTV video music awards has never happened before or since the 1996 MTV video awards. Now you might be wondering what it is that I am referring to, I am talking about the moment in the show, when producers had the host and comedian, Dennis Miller, doing an interview, live from earth to the Russian space station with some cosmonauts.

Nobody at least to my knowledge has ever included that happening in any of the best VMA moments countdown that I have ever watched. The segment started off smoothly with Dennis Miller, doing his job as the wise, cracking host talking to two Russian astronauts from a space station from where else but outer space.

Dennis Miller interviewing the Russian cosmonaut had been a planned part of the show. The interview was going well then they lost satellite transmission and this lasted for several minutes of awkwardness. So Dennis being ever the professional started making jokes in order to keep the situation from becoming an international space incident.

As the viewer at home, I had often wondered when during the situation, what was going on backstage in order to rectify it. If memory correctly serves, I think the producers also wanted the cosmonaut to present an award from the space station.

Somehow, the space station had an MTV music video award with them on the space station. With the loss of the transmission between MTV and the space station, they were two cosmonaut, who were literally lost in space for a couple of the longest minutes ever.

Since that happened, no more MTV transmissions to outer space had ever been attempted again. There were a few moments when Dennis couldn’t even believe what was going on either. Eventually, the prom had been corrected backstage, and the show was back on track. Also, it was like moon man statue find its way into Outer space because the cosmonaut had a man with them would be a perfect headline.

Dennis at one point in the situation said “ Jesus Christ, I am going to be haunted by this for the rest of my life”. And that was a statement to define the situation. no other comedian would’ve been able to handle the situation better than an awesome comedic genius like Dennis Miller.

Talk about spontaneity and surprises something that the MTV music video awards have always pried itself on this was truly one of them. After the situation had been rectified and everything, reconnected Dennis made a joke to the audience that the Russian cosmonaut were coming to get him after the situation, and then some guy in the audience jokingly said Run and Dennis said see they’re here just something funny to sum up almost tragic, space incident that almost happened.

I have never forgotten that moment in MTV music video history. In fact, that’s the number one thing that I remember the most. Actually, there are only two moments from the MTV music video awards. I remember from that year number one the Dennis Miller and Russian space station thing and also that’s it to be honest with you. Actually, the other moment I remember from that year was Beavis and Butthead presenting an award. I I believe that the Russian space station incident at the MTV music video awards should be considered a piece of space, travel, history, or an NASA history as well. Like Dennis Miller said about himself, remembering it for the rest of his life I too, have never forgotten that moment at the MTV music video awards.
