Our Journey Through Music Continues
You may not recognize the folks in the above picture, but they were two amazing musical talents who my husband and I not only knew but had the privilege to call our friends.

I don’t think I’m alone when I say this: when we listen to music, we often make connections to people. A certain song, no matter how subtle the message might be in reality, can make you think of a person; maybe even one you’ve never met. This is part of what makes music so personal. For every single person in the world, one song can take on so many different meanings. Then suddenly, the music that you’ve connected to these people make them feel closer than ever. You don’t have to imagine them; you can feel their presence. That’s the magic, I think.

These days, with streaming, downloads, and all the available formats, new and old, it is quite easy for good music to fall under the radar. In that respect, it is an almost an even field, whether music is something you seriously follow or you are just a casual fan. It often happens that your pile of vinyl or CDs just grows, or those downloads and possible streaming links are overcrowding your computer.

The music industry is a tough one due to its complexity, demands, and variety of listener interests and talents. "Making it big" takes a lot longer than you might think, and doesn't always look like how we expect it. Nowadays, it simply is not enough to know how to sing or play an instrument. Musical artists need to have a working knowledge of how to use their voice, instruments, social media, sound engineering, public relations, and more. As the general listener, we rarely have the opportunity to see the grueling hours of work that go into the finished product we experience.

Talya JacobsonPublished 5 years ago in Beat Top Five New R&B Songs
Next to Hip Hop, R&B (Rhythmic and blues) is my favorite genre to listen to—from the slow beats to the outstanding vocals that make me wish I could sing ,or rather just hold a simple note. Because I do have a passion for listening to R&B, there are so many songs I could list or recommend, but today I’m sticking to my top five R&B songs that were released in the last two years. So if you’re wondering why “Doo Wop,” by Lauryn Hill isn’t on here, that’s why. These are the songs that you might not have seen on the charts, but surely they deserve to be there, and on your love/feelings playlist.

Hello there, from time to time, we all go through some stuff. Whether it is a breakup, a family issue, a feeling of emptiness or depression, or a lack of confidence in yourself, I think we all know some painful moments when we just want to curl into a ball, and have a good cry, and disappear for some time from our every-day stress.

Sweat drips from your forehead onto the ground, as you hold your body in a plank. The timer that your eyes have been glued to for the past minutes seems to be going at its slowest, which is torturing you physically and mentally. Suddenly the one motivational song you’ve been playing over and over agin stops and you remember have a cup of ice cream waiting for you in your fridge. The sweating, the pain, and frustration all comes to an end and instead you devour a whole carton of ice cream. What if you kept working out? What if you had more motivational songs that helped you through a whole workout?

In my opinion, creating a playlist is a form of art. Curating a perfect list of music that strongly conveys a certain mood or feeling can be quite a challenge, but the reward makes all of the effort worthwhile.

Bleachers has been such an important band in my life, because they really know how to make me get in the feels, but also I genuinely enjoy Jack Antonoff's music style. They are mainly know for "I Wanna Get Better," their RIAA certified gold debut single.
