This is getting heavy... Can you hear the awards swoon? I'm ready.

When watching a BTS performance, you are guaranteed to witness the absolute best of the best and this year's virtual Video Music Awards is certainly no exception.

The astronomically talented septet made their VMA debut performing their latest single "Dynamite" via a green screen that featured a number of historic New York City locations. Filming remotely in South Korea and decked out in their gorgeously impeccable suit ensembles, the group showcased the hit song's exemplary choreography while numerous iconic NY landmarks displayed behind them including the Brooklyn Bridge and a brightly illuminated Times Square.

Many (understandably) could not contain their brutal excitement during their appearance at the ceremony as demonstrated by a number of BTS-related topics that were trending on Twitter, most notably including #VMAWITHBTS and BEST POP.

Their "Boy With Luv" collaborator and pal Halsey (whose song "You should be sad" was also nominated for Best Pop) showed her support for the Boys and she truly is just the absolute best:

Sweeping the VMAs and Making History

BTS won all four awards they were nominated for, sweeping the awards with their powerhouse anthem "ON." These awards included Best Group, Best K-Pop, Best Choreography and surpassing the likes of Justin Bieber and Jonas Brothers for Best Pop.

They expressed their excitement with winning the award and thanked their loyal fanbase known as ARMYs (whom they share an incredible perpetual bond with) with member V declaring "this music is for you!"

While they've previously won two VMAs for Best K-pop and the fan-voted Best Group in 2019, their nomination for Best Pop was the first time any Asian group was nominated in one of the ceremony’s main categories.

With their win, BTS becomes the first Asian act to win Best Pop artist in VMA history.

It comes on the heels of what has been a massively successful year for the global force. It seems as though every day that passes, another record has been bested by BTS. In March, Elite Daily compiled a comprehensive list of the records their most recent album Map of the Soul: 7 broke including Most Pre-Ordered South Korean Album of All Time, Biggest Spotify Debut for a Group in 2020 and Most Weeks on the Billboard Artist 100 for a Group/Duo.

They joined the likes of The Beatles when MoTS: 7 became their fourth album to top the Billboard 200 thus becoming the fastest group since the revered Beatles to have four albums at the top of the Billboard 200.

Their gorgeously poignant song "Black Swan" broke a five-year record held by Adele for "Hello" as it reached #1 on iTunes in 103 countries for a song that (at the time) was "less than six months old."

When the album ranked #1 on the Japanese Oricon Albums Chart, it became the first album from a foreign artist to top this chart in Japan since legendary icon Michael Jackson did it... in 1984. For the seminal "Thriller."

BTS' most recent achievement includes breaking the YouTube record for fastest video to hit 100 million views in 24 hours with "Dynamite" earning 101.1 million within that time frame. With the amount of dedication and immense hard work BTS incorporates into every facet of their being, it is such an unrelenting joy seeing them be rewarded for all they do. If there is a silver lining found in 2020, it's waiting in anticipation for what more they have in store.

To briefly sum everything up: "BTS World Domination" is no longer a fantasy, it's an inevitably. It is reality. And quite frankly, this prospect is sweet as honey.
