The year 2020 has proven to be a real pain in every orifice on Earth. If there is something that humans need during this unprecedented time in our history, it's striving to find avenues to forget, for just a moment, the drastic changes occurring in daily life on a consistent basis.

Thankfully, BTS has us covered.

Their newest disco-inspired single "Dynamite" dropped midnight on Friday and its arrival marks six months exactly following the release of their seventh overall album Map Of The Soul: 7.

Following the incredible success of its teaser, which garnered over 57 million views in three days, "Dynamite" has broken an exceptional amount of streaming records to date in less than 24 hours.

The anticipation for the release of the full song and music video "saw the biggest YouTube live premiere in the website’s history, raking in 3 million concurrent viewers." For context, the previous holder of this record was fellow K-pop group BLACKPINK for their track "How You Like That” which boasted 1.65 million concurrent viewers.

Following the premiere, it became the fastest music video to surpass 10 million views, reaching the milestone in 20 minutes and beating their own record previously earned for "ON." At the time of writing this sentence, it has been 20 hours since it premiered and it's currently sitting at over 84 million views rapidly approaching that 85 million range.

When asked about the inspiration for the upbeat track, the group mentions how being in the midst of current hardships shaped their approach in crafting a tune meant to bring joy to those who need it the most:

"[It] all began from this: even in the midst of hardships, we must focus on what we can do. As for us, we found freedom and happiness in singing and dancing. This song goes to the ones who need encouragement. We hope people feel energized when listening to the song."

The deliciously nostalgic hit proudly showcases its bright pastel color palate, while the group channels their inner Michael Jackson by paying homage to the late, perpetual great King of Pop in their mesmerizing movements.

(Jimin also has an undercut hairstyle and... This reigns supreme always.)

The ARMYs (what the devoted fanbase of BTS are called) and non-ARMYs alike have taken to social media to express their sheer jubilation with the incredible banger and continued adoration for the immensely talented septet:

One of the most notable takes is from Taj Jackson, the nephew of the legendary icon, who expressed his love for the song and the group's devoted fans in an emotional tweet:

For those hungry for more BTS, the group is set to perform "Dynamite" at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards which will air on August 30th at 8 pm.

Their upcoming documentary Break the Silence which offers fans a behind-the-scenes look during 2019's Love Yourself: Speak Yourself tour, is scheduled to screen in more than 70 countries beginning September 10th, with a rollout in an additional 40-plus regions on September 24th.

UPDATE 8/22/2020: Allow yourself to be washed over by the incredible power of the BTS ARMY. "Dynamite" officially broke the YouTube record for most-viewed video in its first 24 hours of release garnering 98.3 million views with the previous holder being the aforementioned BLACKPINK at 86.3 million views.

"Dynamite" reached the milestone of 100 million views in approximately 24 hours and 27 minutes thus becoming the fastest video in YouTube history to reach that mark. It also becomes the 26th group music video to reach 100 million views. For the curious, the website soompi included what the other 25 videos are:

@btsroyalty compiled a list of the massive amount of records the single has broken thus far with over sixty of them being achieved "in the time span of around two days, most of which came from the first 24hrs."

At the time of writing, the music video has over 136 million views and remains at the #1 spot on YouTube's trending page.
